Jerky Scanners (Acme 100W Dynamo Scanners)

hi all
Just got myself 4 acme 100w dynamo scanners. When I make a cue say a square pattern the playback is really jerky and not smooth. However if I let them react sound and light the back is nice and smooth. Any suggestions to why this would be?
Thanks
Coley

Hey,

I've noticed this as well and I had to put the chaserspeed for the scanners up to 500% before it made a difference, but it was only a slight difference at that. If anyone comes up with the solution then be sure to let us know, but I will have a look myself when I get 5 mins from work.

Regards,
Nathan

Unfortunatley the stepper motors in the Dynamos just are nowhere near as smooth as a lot of other scanners (I have 8 and use then all the time). When you look at the vdeo below, you can see that they struggle to move from one position to another without a slight stutter:

That show was all controlled via DMX and using FS.

My Dynamos have been really reliable an I would dstill recommend them to anyone. Their best feature is their built in auto show that looks great with dance music.

@Kings you are spot on about the motors. I have got a way round by disabling the fades when making a cue. so I can not use the auto shape maker. Before I connected the lights to freestyler I set them up in master slave mode dip 1 on master and dip 3 on the slave the 2 middle ones I inverted the middle 2 with dip 10. Wow the show blew me away it was stunning. It is a same you cannot run the built in program from freestyler.

I am not bothered about the stuttering as dont really need them to go that that slow like I said I just cannot use the shapes but they work well with the fx. The best part I got for £40 each and they are like brand new in a case

That video is awesome it has given me some ideas thanks for posting it.
