Still using version 2.96j, I've now got my hands on one of the fixtures i have to use (Showtec LED PARcan, 6 channel). I've also got the (new) Enttec OpenDMX USB interface connected with the WinXP driver installed,Set the interface in the initial FS setting screen and added the fixture into FS as the sole device.
The PARcan is set to DMX mode and channel 1 on the DIP switch. It's default colour when turned on is [Off] and is connected by a regular 3 pin DMX cable. So seems pretty straight-forward; it couldn't get much simpler.

Yet, when i try to change to any colour or any setting - strobe, intensity etc, nothing happens.
I've tried from the colour window, the slider bar(s) and from the cue window, but always the same response - nothing; The lamp stays off.

So what have i done wrong?

It's all pretty much a big lump of unknowns at the moment. I can try an another PC, other PARcans and cables next week. But i don't suspect any of them. And i imagine the Enttec probably doesn't have much wrong with it either. That leaves FS, or at least the way i am using it. So how an i check where the problem is?

i also own the showtec led par 20 of them and the first issue i had with them was that the DIP switch is inverted from the DIP switch settings FS shows..

on FS DIP ON is down.
on the par DIP ON is up.

and dip 10 is used for DMX mode or not. but i'm not sure if its up or down.

and you allways can look at the DMX ouput from FS to see if FS Send the correct output.

According to the PAR manual, DIP10 is off/down for DMX and this is what i used first.
With DIP10 ON/up and the original DMX address 1 (DIP1 up, 2-9 down) then the lights are changing all over the place. But i think this is the sound control from the mic as its change while i type

Inverting the DMX address DIP has the same impact as before - nothing.

How do i look at the FS DMX output?

As an additional point, i've just seen the slider bars on the right side show the top 2 channels both as being green. Although the colours selector shows R, G and B like it should. Is it relevant, do you think?

on the toolbar you see OUTPUT, and then press SHOW OUPUT here you can see what FS is sending..

But i know for the Enttec pro there is a Simple DMX controller software.
Just 10 slider on screen so you can Adjust the first 10 DMX channels try this to see if this works..

Thanks, have the output now.
The first channel is sending data, but it's still marked as being Green instead of read.
FS looks like its sending something. I just need to understand what the PAR is receiving, or not.

This is not the enttec pro, just the simple openDMX.

All sorted. Seems to have been a driver issue.
The supplied drivers are no good; There's direction (not a link) to a good driver on the enttec site.
