Hello!
I'm noobie in dmx and lighting (i have known just ~6 months what dmx is

) so i may have stupid questions, try to understand. And sorry about my bad english sometimes.
So, to the point. I have a weird problem. When i remove my dmx interface from my laptop, my windows crashes often. And sometimes everything from Freestyler disappears

If i do it very slowly, after closing Freestyler wait few minutes, then take the interface away from the usb-cable, and wait again, and then after waiting take the usb-cable away, it sometimes DONT crash.
Any idea what could be the reason?
Thanks for any advice's!

Welcome to the Freestyler forums!
It's hard to say what causes the error by the information you provided. Please help us help you:
- What OS (windows version) are you running?
- What version of Freestyler are you running?
- Which DMX dongle are you using?
- Did you try another USB port on your laptop? (Iguess you did)
- Are the motherboard/USB drivers up-to-date? (If you have the same Windows installed since you bought the laptop, you're good with this).
Just to be curious, why would you like to remove your DMX dongle?

Hello,
Here are some information
Windows 7,
Freestyler version 5.3.1,
OPTO-USBDMX (should work with Enttec Open),
Yes, i have tried all my usb ports
I have still same windows than when i bought my laptop (1 year ago)
And why do i want to remove my interface? Well, usually when i stop using Freestyler, its difficult to keep it on usb port all the time cause i use my computer also in other things
It's very weird, why does waiting effect does it crash or not. AND, if i don't take interface first before removing usb cable, it always crash. There come's blue screen when it crash.

Blue screens are actually very useful
Or at least one tiny part of it: The reason of the blue screen of death, usually found at the top of your screen.
Take this one for example:
The actual error in this case is
IRQL_not_less_or_equal, and that's something you can google

More information on blue screens can be found here:

I guess, since the problems started with using (removing) the DMX dongle, a driver issue is in order. If I'm correct, your dongle uses a 'FDCI'-chip to connect to usb. There is a chance that updating that driver will fix your problem. You can find that driver over here:

Try to write down the error code and post it here when your laptop gets back online. If I have the exact error message, I can try to find a solution for you

I truly hope that it helped for real!!! Thank you very much!! I'll let you know error code if it happens again.
Now i have another problem. When i open Freestyler, it show message "error opening preset data, default values were loaded"
