Hi together,
my DMX interface described in the subject works well for round about one hour. After this hour the Freestyler shows in the Outputvalue the right values but the Interface do nothing (Fixtures did not react).
The only workaround in this situation is: shutting down Freestyler and reconnect the DMX interface.
If I restart the freestyler without the reconnect, Freestyler report "open faild". I use Win XP (Laptop) the current Enttec driver and Freestyler 3.5.2. Havo anyone similar Problems ore some suggestions for me?
regards
Alex

Hey Alex,
There is a link on the front page that can fix your problem with the interface you have, however the link is broken at the moment so I'm afraid you can't download it. I have however contacted the Admins and told them about this and they are on the case to resolve the link so it's available for download again.
Sorry for the delay.
Best Regards,
Nathan

Hi Nathan,
thanks for the quick reply, I had downloaded the fix some days ago (and tested), but the Situation is always the same as described. I didn't wonder, the mentioned fix is for the PRO interface. So Im locking forward to solve my Problem

Alex

Is your laptop going into sleep mode or is there any power managment happening (like turning down USB or Hard drives)? Are the connections good? I've had nothing but good performance from the Open DMX - I run 4hr shows without a glitch with Freestyler.

Hi Captain Betty,
No, the Laptop Power managment is disabled also the USB Powermanagment from Windows XP is disabled.
My last Idea is to try this evening an external USB hub with external power supply. We will see

So, also with an external USB hub (with external Power supply) the device stops after a while. My solution will be to order a Enttec USB PRO device and return the Open DMX USB device. Other/more suggestions are welcome

The open suffers from noise on power or data lines. Try keeping them away from fog machines and power cables

I'll also state that I use a DMX splitter (chauvet data stream 4).

Return the open and try an ultraDMX RDM Pro. It's more noise immune than the Enttec USB Pro too so feel confident that aspect of your problem will be resolved. It's actually on special at the moment so you'll save a few bucks as well.

If you're super keen on having a robust rig then go for an Ethernet DMX device like our eDMX range since they'll keep outputting the last DMX frame even if the computer goes down then pickup again immediately when it's back on plus you can bridge it via a wifi router to make your setup easier. eDMX1 is also cheaper than an Enttec USB Pro anyway so no excuses!
