5 Pin to 3 Pin? Question

Hey Guys,

Couple of quick questions...I have a Velleman K8062 interface which is giving me some serious problems and I've lost faith in it performing when I need it to. Is the Enttec Open a good replacenment? I notice the Enttec has a 5 pin port, (where as the Velleman is 3 pin as are the fixtures) if I buy a 5 pin to 3 pin conveter is this is all I need to connect and run my fixtures correctly?

Thanks in advance.

hi i also made a velleman dongle my self but i did not realy liked it..
i then used the enttec open for a year but i got creazy because it locked up from time to time..
in the most extreme case 10time durring a show..

now i have the enttec pro and i love it.!!! no issue at all.

but there is no differnce between 3 pin and 5 pin

PIN layout =

3PIN

pin1= Commen, Ground
pin2= Cold, -
pin3 =hot, +

5PIN

pin1= Commen, Ground
pin2= Cold, -
pin3= hot, +
pin4= reseverd, Not used, Depant on Fixture, RDM
pin5= reseverd, Not used, Depant on Fixture, RDM

and some fixture have a Inverted + and -

so you get
pin1= Commen, Ground
pin2= hot, +
pin3= Cold, -

you can very easly create this cables you self..
if you now how a Solderiron works..

I agree with spirit. I've got the enttec pro as well and had no problems with at all, it's amazing bit of kit and the boss made the cable up for 5pin to 3pin. Recommended :)
