I have DMX Interface (Gus Electronics USB-VL344). All though this unit works great with Freestyler by itself, I am wanting to control Freestyler with a Behringer FCB1010 midi controller. I am thinking that this might not be the correct interface needed. I've been all over these forums and can't quite find out if my suspicions are correct.

Can anyone help?

You will require a simple usb to midi adapter. This will enable you to control fs through the midi ports on your control
