Freestyler crashing with a kernel32.dll error

When I am using freestyler running or creating a show, it will crash sometimes. The windows application logs say it is a kernel32.dll error. I have tried re-installing freestyler and the DMX USB Pro interface. I am new to freestyler. Has anyone ran into that issue?

I haven't run into this - Freestyler has been rock solid stable for me. Can you provide some more specific information for your setup? Here's a list of questions that will help us troubleshoot your problem.
1. What version of Windows are you running, and is it 32 or 64 bit?
2. Is it fully patched and up to date? Have you done a full virus scan on the system recently?
3. When you said DMX USB Pro, did you mean the Enttec PRO interface? Do you have the latest drivers for it installed?
4. What other programs do you have running while you're using Freestyler?
5. Are there any specific things that you do that will consistently cause the crash? i.e. can you reproduce the problem consistently, or is it random?
Any other info that you think might be relevant will help us track down the source of the problem. Cheers!

1. Dell Optiplex desktop running windows xp professional. Touchscreen
2. updates/drivers, yes.
3. 1 DMX USB Pro. Yes to updates.
4. MSE, ELO Touchscreen software
5. It is random. It does it sometimes when not in the touchscreen interface also. I mainly use it with my iPad but since not everyone at my church has a iPad they need to use it with a touchscreen.

I am having this problem too. Using it on Saturday night it crashed every 15 to 90mins. It seemed random, nothing I could pin it down to. Sequences were running from the cue window. The laptop was not being touched when it crashed.
Windows XP SP3 32 bit.
No Antivirus installed or Windows Update patches. This machine never gets connected to the Internet.
Enttec DMX USB Pro Interface. Latest drivers installed.
No other software installed or running.
Faulting application freestyler512.exe, version 3.5.0.0, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.5512, fault address 0x00012aeb.
The application, C:\Program Files\FreeStyler\FreeStyler512.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 10/28/2012 @ 00:33:14.609 The exception generated was c000008f at address 7C812AEB (kernel32!RaiseException)
Should I submit a bug report?

Sorry for the delay in responding back to this, it was a busy weekend!
It seems that this problem is happening on both 32 and 64 bit systems, with no real common denominators unfortunately... I was hoping to maybe see something that would help pin it down. I would definitely suggest submitting a bug report.

Hi,
I'm having the same issue too, please see my post
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4721
My PC is a new build with the latest 3.5 on the only common denominator is that we all are using freestyler 3.5 with the enttec pro device? (this issue didn't use to happen to me on the old freestyler software)
Spec
Windows 7 64bit
i3 processor
2gb ram
500gb hdd
Entec Pro

Hi All
Make sure "USB selective suspend" is disabled (see windows power settings).
This option will cut all communication to USB devices after some time to save power.
Best regards

Hi,
Has anybody managed to change this setting? I'm not at my light show for another few weeks and would like to know if this has fixed it for anybody.

Hej.
I just got mine up running (8 - 10 hours)
I deleted FreeStyler in the registration database and set the reset parameter to "True" in the FreeStyler.ini file.
It solved it for me. If you haven't done this then give it a try.
My case may be a bit special as I have been using some betas by just copieng them into the FreeStyler folder.
