2x Behringer BCF 2000 with FreeStyler

Helly everbody.

One little question.

Is ist able to control FS with "two" BCF 2000. I would like to control several Submasters and need a little bit more faders to change the values slowly.

Or is there another external controller with more than 8 faders compatible to FS?

You can also tell me the biggest external controller to control FS :D .

Thank you very much for supporting me.

Yes this is possible with MIDIOX and MIDI Yoke.
here a Link how to :http://www.freestylersupport.com/wiki/e ... i-ox_setup
this is the way how i done it..

this can be a better way because its less resorces from the pc : http://www.freestylersupport.com/wiki/e ... i_tutorial

or create your own midi controll like i'm doing With "MIDIBOX" or LIVID BRAIN :D
But midibox is more advanced...

I am trying to use 2*BCF2000 with my FreeStyler using this tutorial : http://www.freestylersupport.com/wiki/e ... i_tutorial

The problem is that the two BCF2000's show up on 2 different MIDI-devices. Do I really have to use the MIDI-OX / MIDI Yoke-thing to get this working because that is not the impressions I get from the tutorial above ?

Thank You already for Your valuable help, this is a great community !

hi

IF you use 2 BCF it''s not neccery to use Midiox..
You can also use the Midi in and Out on the BCF it self.

So you need to connect 1 BCF with USB and the other one with 2xMIDI cables to the First BCF.
And i Think the First BCF needs to be set as U-4 Mode and the second one as S-4 Mode

you can use the exmpale from the first link i posted and just forget the Midi merger you dont need it if you use 2x bcf...

And a other nice and more fun way is to create your own Midi controller...
the possiblities are endless Google the advanced version for MIDIBOX and the easyer one search for LIVID BRAIN DIY...

and the devolper made it possible to use more then one Midi channel you can now use ALL 16 midi channels so up to 2048 Note''s 8-)

2x BCF2000 on FS doing the same work

Hello everybody,

a new question appeared yesterday evening.

I tried to connect two BFC2000 to Freestyler over MIDIox and MIDIyoke.

Both devices are beeing recognized by MIDIox and it´s possible to merge them to MIDIyoke like the manual says. But there is no difference in the name between the controllers. So I have BCF2000 and BCF2000 in MIDIox. After opening FS and putting MIDIyoke ..1 as input and MIDIyoke ..2 as output both controllers do the same. There is no difference beetween changing values on controller 1 or 2.

Is it possible to rename the controllers to differetiate from each other?

Or do I have another problem?

Thank you very much for supporting me,
Markus

hi

this is because both controllers send the same (MIDI)info..

as you see on this page all 3 controllers have differnt note''s for all the Buttons/Slider/encoders.
this exmaple is made in the time that freestyler only allows 127Notes and 1midi channels..
all the encoder buttons are not used.
http://www.freestylersupport.com/wiki/e ... ch_example

now with the new vesion you can use all midi channel with 127 note's, so 16x127 =2048 differnt note's

but you can create this your self if you download BCmanager.

Hello,

yesterday I tried to work with BCmanager. He always told me, there´s a MIDI loopback in my system and have to check MIDIyoke 1and 2 in the system settings.

I don´t know exactly what I have to do that the BCmanager works with the two BCF2000 controllers to rename them.

Another question: Is it able to use the BCF2000 several times in FS without Importing MIDI-Settings? Actually I import MIDI-Settings in FS for programming scenes (with color, gobo etc. on the faders). Than I import MDI-Settings for running the show (submaster on the faders, dimming level etc.).

Thank you so much.

Goog Evening.

I´ve just deinstalled MIDIyoke and now it´s possible to see the two BCF´s in the BCmanager.

Now I´m able to edit presets and send them to the controllers but how I can change now the name of the devices which is still the same?

Thank you, have a nice evening.

no the device dont need a other name.
you need to gibe other note's to each Button/Encoder/faders..

it looks the same as DMX if you patch 2 fixture on the same Address they do the same..

same as midi if 2 button have the same NOTE they will act the same..

as you see on the link http://www.freestylersupport.com/wiki/e ... ch_example

BCF1 uses Note 0 to 41
BCF2 uses Note 42 to 83
BCF3 uses Note 84 to 125

Hi spirit,

thanks a lot for your support.

Now I´m understanding the function of BCmanager. You can set adress values for the buttons and faders.

FS can now differentiate the two controllers with help of the adress values from the faders and buttons.

You wrote further versions of FS could "only" manage one channel with 127 notes that complies with about 3 BCF´s. But ALL 16 Channels? That means I could use in theory more than 3 BCF´s? Round about 48  ?

Tomorrow evening I´ll try two controllers that should be enough.

Thank you very much.

1 channels can only handle 2 BCFs because normal a bcf uses something like 64 Notes

but i did not use the Encoder groups / Encoder buttons..

this way i could fit the 3 BCFs but now its not neccesary any more..

but 48 Midi controllers will not work realy well..
alltough FS only have around the 600 midi functions...
and the bandwidth will not be BIG/Fast enough..
as FS send each time you press a Button ALL midi data back to the Controller..
and if you use Midiox to split / merge the signel you need a REALY!!! fast pc..

Hello everyone.

I simply have optimized the BCF2000_1 and BCF_2000_2 configruation and now I can easily use my two controllers.

That´s enough to control FS in "Show-Mode" and "Programme-Mode". For these two cases I import two different FS-Settings (Midi-Setups) one for controlling the Show (Submasters, Masterfader etc.) and one for creating scenes (Colors, Gobos etc.)

Thank you very much for the great support.

Hi,

since mal last post everything works fine.

Now I´m able to use two BCFs via MIDIYOKE with Freestyler.

But one questions is still open.

I configured both BCFs to use each of it as Device 1 or 2. So I don´t have to look after, which Device I take away to the next even,t if need only one BCF.
So I have two programs on the Devices. P01 = Device1, P02 = Device2.
But I´m not able to swich this to programs on my BCFs without connecting it to USB and using the BCedit.
Is this right?
Is there no possibility to change the programms without connecting the BCF via USB to PC and work with the BCeditor?

Thanks a lot for your help.
