Won't open GUS VL344

I can not get the latest version of freestyler to open the GUS VL344 dongle. It worked with the older version but for some reason now it will not open it keeps saying open failed. does anyone know a fix to this? tried uninstalling and reinstalling. i am trying to reinstall the older program now to see if it will work with that version.
