Hello my name is Koby.

I am programming a dance floor for a local event company and I have encountered a problem.
Each dance floor panel uses 31 channels, and they have a total of 36 panels.

36 X 31=1116 Channels needed. (3 universes needed for just the dance floor)

Now before you tell me to go check the forums I HAVE! There is a lot of "older" posts saying only one universe is available, and other posts stating that multiple universes is available to Beta testers only.
There is a more recent post from one of the moderators that states if I need more channels I will need another USB DMX interface. 1 USB DMX INT=512 channels, 2 USB DMX INT=1024 channels, ETC...

WILL IT WORK IS MY QUESTION????

I don't want to have him buy another USB DMX interface only to find out it won't work.

If it's not possible I need to know so I can tell him to invest in Martin Lightjockey dongel/software.
(hoping freestyler is still cooler then Martin LJ )

Each Universe will only run 512 Channels. That is due to the limitations of the DMX protocol. 1 Universe = 512 channels.
With regards to weather or not the new Freestyler version runs Multi Universe yet..... that is a really good question.

Do you have a DMX table for the panel.
And can it be set to operate in different modes.

The latest version of FreeStyler only support one universe. (512 channel)
It is a bit low for a matrix.

And If I recall correct our Martin lj is limited to one dongle with two universes.
(It has been a long time since I last used it)

I do have a DMX table, and no it cannot be set to operate in different modes unfortunately

Freestyler would be the PERFECT fit for this dance floor if I only had more Universes....
(hint hint nudge nudge freestyler dev. team)
The RGB segments makes the matrix look SWEET, I just need it to be bigger.

I guess I need to look into becoming a beta tester...

I have been playing a bit with LedTrix and was so lucky that my fixtures could be set in a RGB mode so each element only used the 3 channels for RGB, no strobe , no dimmer and so on.

But this still gives a matrix of 13x13 as max for the 1 universe and that was a bit low.
I then made a mirror where I had two sets of fixture at the same addresses giving 2 x 10x10 (my matrix was 10x10)
This looked ok for my application but it could be better.
