Freestyler and multiple controllers

Greetings,

Okay, let me see if I can explain what I'm looking for. We currently have 1 usb-dmx controller we are using on our laptop we have designated for dmx use. The usb-dmx controller is KMTronic USB-DMX512 controller. Now I know some have had issues with this controller, but we have been using it for a couple of months now and have had zero problems with it, so I am very happy with it. My only problem I had was we ordered it off eBay and it took 3 1/2 weeks to get here from Bulgaria. ;)

We use this controller for our uplighting, which we are currently using 16 Eliminator led lights for this. Each one has a 20foot dmx cable between them with a terminator on the last fixture. Because of the length of cable runs we already have on this chain, we don't want to add any more fixtures to it.

What we are wondering about is it is possible to add a 2nd controller (same model) to the same laptop, and if so, how does Freestyler handle multiple controllers and how are they accessed from the interface. We want to add the lights that we have on our truss that are dmx capable to the dmx system to be able to control them as well.

Hope I'm explaining that in a way that makes sense.

Thanks,

Bryan

Sounds like you are trying to setup a Second Universe and at the moment I know that Freestyler doesn't support that as far as I know.

buttza is right about the 2nd universe. however, it sounds to me like what you are really wanting is a splitter/repeater. There are ones on ebay for around the same price as the KMTronic USB-DMX512. this would split your DMX run into multiple branches and give you additional DMX runs from one central location allowing you to get to your truss as well as your up lighting without a degradation of the DMX signal.

DMXKing a good cheap splitter as well. The other benefit to having a DMX splitter is it boots the DMX signal along the feed to the fixtures. :)
