Chauvet Cubix

I have gotten my Cubix working great, until I tried Light 2 Sound since there is no "built in" sound mode for the Cubix via DMX.

Beign that Light 2 Sounds uses the gobo, color, pan, & tilt channels in RANDOM mode, I am just not sure which would be the best way to setup the fixture in Freestyer to make it easy to make scenes & use with Light 2 Sound.

I am wanting Light to Sound to send random values to CHNLS 1,3,&4.
I have even go as far as to seperate the Cubix int 2 fixtures, Outer & Center Effect, but would like to keep it as one.

How would you do it?????
Is there something simple I am missing?

TIA!!!!!

Hej sse

I am not familar with the S2L but there some info on the wiki.

http://www.freestylersupport.com/wiki/sound_2_light

The S2L will only send a trigger puls for each beat, not a dmx value, and you have to decide what you want to control with this puls.

I guess that you have enabled the fixture to "react to sound"

And that you have made a sequenc / cue to control gobo and color.

It should then just be to activate the sound icon in the cue window.
And FreeStyler should then shift the color or gobo in the steps you have recorded in the sequence controlled by the sound.

Thanks Jan for the RE

I was trying to get away from using a sequence & having 2 separate fixtures for the CUBIX, to react to S2L. From what you and the wiki said, I will probably have to divide the the CUBIX into 2 separate fixtures, to get it to react to "random DMX value", which only changes the GOBO, Color, pan&tilt values. It probably works great on a moving head fixture, but for the CUBIX, it is PITA.

Perhaps an "update" for S2L to let you chose what channels it sends random values to would be nice when S2L is using random mode

Hej again.

The only tricky thing that I can see is 2 strobe and this is the only thing that may require 2 fixture.

If you can live with the center strobe on gobo wheel 3 then the 6 channel fixture are fine.
It just mean that the lamp panel control for strobe only work on the outer part.

I would use the 6 ch fixture.

As I see it you need to make sone sequences but is that a problem. It takes 10 min.

If it is because you are not familar with sequences and cues then we will guide you.

DMX random values on a channel.
That is a bit problematic because many channels has more controls in the same channel
Color wheels may have a fixed color in one end and a rainbow with speed control in the other.
Gobo wheel can have the gobos in one end and rotation in the other end.

In you fixture, If you send a random value to channel 1 then you will have some values than are in the range 198 to 255 which means that you will have some random colors and in the next step they go into chase mode.
Don't think that is wat you want.

hey i have been looking at your problem but i think i know how to solve it.

Because if you just make a Sequence, Put it on the CUE and Enable RANDOM and S2L you will have what your searching for.

So as Example for CH1 your make a Sequence with 7Steps
Step1 = Value 15 (Red)
Step2 = Value 40 (Green)
Step3 = Value 70 (Blue)
Step4 = Value 100 (Blue and Green)
Step5 = Value 130 (Red and Blue)
Step6 = Value 150 ( Green and Red)
and the last one Step7 = Value 180 (Red/Green and Blue)
Now save this Put it in the CUE enable RANDOM and S2L and there it goes.

The same goes for Channel 4 Only then with 40Steps

And Channel 3 just Devide the Channel to 25 Steps So each step will be Increased with 10 Values.
so
Step1 = 10
Step2 = 20
Step3= 30
And on.... untill your at 250.

Hope this makes any sense... :D
