Freestyler under a different user

Hi everyone,

I've been playing on and off with FS for a year or more, and now I'm setting it up to run the whole show for my band.

First thing I added was Go Monkey. This is just what I needed, the person running the lights is not very technical so having the set list of songs and key points to just hit a space bar is a wonderful idea.

Called in a a favor from a friend that used to do lighting for large acts back in he early 80s to spec out the fixtures and design the looks.

So far so good, 3 sets, 48 songs ready to go. Now I wanted to added a different user on my laptop, non-admin, so it is easy to just login and get the show started. It looked like FS lost all it's settings and I had to tell it to go back to factory defaults, and now it runs under the new user, however, Go Monkey doesn't work.

GM starts up just fine, no errors, and steps down the lists, but for some reason it is not talking to FS.

Any clues?

FS is installed in the normal place of c:\, so none of the files are tied to just one user on the machine. I did also try making the user an admin, still no luck.

Freestyler requires admin rights to be able to accept send message commands.

Yes, I have turned on Admin for that user, still no lucky. See the last line of my post.

If you run Go Monkey without FS running, you get no errors or other clues that you have a problem. Is there a check in GM that the findwindow call is not null?

try running sound to light, to verify send message is working in fs

Good idea. I just tried sound to lights and right away FS pops up a message box saying sending message is not enabled, would like to enable it. I click on the yes.

Then I tried Go Monkey, and it works now. I logged out and back in and whatever got set has now stayed set and Go Monkey works with FS as expected.

Just wonder what it changed.

Anyway thanks for pointing in a direction that fixed it. Now just setup a small login script to start FS and Go Monkey when the user "lights" logs in, and it will be just about idiot proof.
