Hello There

How does the interface for the PDA freestyler control looks, and what can you do with it?

Im am interested in this because if it can control alot of functions in Freestyler, then i might have to buy a PDA and use it as an remote control.

How does it work .. ok in a nut shell .. you need some kind of wireless connectivity between your PDA and your FreeStyler server, this can be Wireless Point To Point, Wireless Infrastructure, Bluetooth Networking etc. Then you fire up the PDA program and connect to the server. Once connected you can do a few things more will be added shortly. here are a few screen shots of some of the things available..

There is also a simple Telnet interface to send other commands diretly, see help on the Telnet inteface for a list o available commands.
Bear in mind this is a work in progress, some things might not work as expected (or at all :o ) but I will be adding / fixing the broken bits in the near future. I'm sure other PDA interfaces will pop up as the community members develope things that are more suited to their own needs, mine was merely a proof of concept.

Thanks for the scrrenshots. It looks great and if this is only the beginning a PDA could be a powerfull controller for the Freestyler. I like the idea that you can walk around the venue and control the freestyler with a PDA.

So the next step for me would be to get the hold of a PDA... :-)

Yup, its certainly going to be a good base for building on! I was hoping to get another PDA beta out last week, and fix a few issues in the Telnet server I've found. Also had an email from Raph which clears up some confusion I had on the dimmer / strobe issue which I need to investigate further. Unfortunately I've been very busy with work last week, and looks set to continue next week with a full week away from home in bonne Scotland. I'll try to get the Telnet fixes done this week, and try to get another PDA beta out before I go too. Normally a week away is a good time to get my head down, but I'm meeting a software engineer from another company and we both like a drink so I guess I won't be getting much programming done!!

It does indeed look very good plasma! Would it be possible to get up a pan/tilt screen? So maybe a little menu called "select fixture" then a list of the fixtures in the show appear, you select the one youw ant and then you can control the colour, pan tilt etc.?

Something like this will require a little more integration work with Raph, as currently the way external programs talk to Freestyler is one way only, so I can send sommands in but can;t get information out, hence I would have no way of knowing the fixtures you have defined. I'm hoping to get a little more flexible PDA beta out soon, just haven't had the time!

Hi.....is it not working....to have a signal back from the Server to the PDA (via WLAN..etc).....to see what fictures are used in there?

I know about this, that this feature isn't availible now. (I hope soon ;) ) But isn't it possible to have signals via Telnet from Server to ClienT?

See you!

The problem is with the software to the server,
The server talks to freestyler via sendmessage. Which doesnt return values back to the server so there is no current method for freestyler to talk back to the server.

Any Iphones/ITouch users?
freestyer PDA maybe coming to your platform quite soon.

Apple have announced the release of the official SDK, which will enable developers to legally and easily create custom software on the phone and touch.
https://developer.apple.com/iphone/devc ... y_apps.php

Only photo shop but imagine multi touch, moving heads.

Any news on development on the Itouch / Iphone interface for freesyler?
This would be cool if it could be done?
