I'm trying to decide on a centerpiece light for over a dance floor. I've been looking at the American DJ Revo 4 and the Hyper Gem although I'm open to other suggestions.

The dance floor is about 16' by 25' wide and the ceiling is about 25' high.

Does anyone know of a formula for determining the optimal hanging height for a fixture? Does anyone have experience with Revo 4 and Hyper Gem and can give me their opinion on these?

Both of these fixtures are OK. Neither is all that bright. Both are pretty cheap. The higher you put any fixture the bigger the beam(s) will be but the further away from a refective surface such as the dancefloor the lower the light output will be.
