Will Freestyler help my DJ Lights?

Hey guys
Long time Mobile DJ with NO experience with DMX software.
For a while now I have been thinking about jumping into the whole DMX software thing, but I am not sure if it will be overkill.

I mainly do weddings and corporate functions and use a small DMX controller for my lights.

I currently have:

2 flurry wash
1 generic 60w Moving head
2 LED starball
4 LED Par 64 Generic Cans

I am hoping that by using software I can visually setup my chases and scenes etc and everything will be simiplyfied down to give a cool show, once the initial setup is done.

Im thinking that I can setup profiles or scenes or shows (not sure of terms) depending on the song or type of song (Slow dance, fast dance, strobing etc) by a touch of a button.

My question is - will Freestyler help me to do this? or is moving to software a little overkill?

Thanks heaps guys, getting a bit excited now hahaha.

Freestyler is designed to do that exact thing and is used my plenty of djs for that exact thing.
Take a look at the wiki for uyour first steps in scene creation. you can then simply choose the look you want be combine multiple cues.

One of the PLUS sides of this I hope is being able to Name my faders and buttons so that I can easily see what channel does what for each fixture. Using a hardware controller can be a nightmare to remember each channel lol!
