need ideas for sequences :)

I have 8 Blizzard RGBA lights, on 2 trees. I'm looking for creative ideas for sequences - anyone want to share?

So far I have some "shutter" work that look like strobes for the ends of songs.
Random fades of same color
Random fades of different colors on groups of lights
Random snaps of same color
Random snaps on different groups

I also have a "chase" from one lamp to the next that I run twice as fast as the others to create a kind of "disco" thing... and another that goes from the inside lights to the outside - I used the rainbow color thing - ROYGBIV - when I did these, and just bounced them from one set to the next.

After that it gets rather boring :D

hello, plan_G

yes if you only have led pars it can be boring very quick.
but how do you playback your sequences?

I use the tap sync most of the time. sometimes switching the speed manually based on how certain songs go. I zip on the shutter slider at appropriate times... I have 10 or 12 sequences, 16 steps each. Some are very slow fades that can "auto-pilot" if needed, some are all light colors, some just random. I just try to pick if the song should have snaps or fades, and if fades - fast or slow. Right now that's the extent of my phantasm LOL.

I'm hoping to add a dj light of some kind if I can find one used, to send some flashes both onto the stage and onto the dance floor if applicable...

I'm trying not to get bored, but I'm running out of interesting ideas for programming sequences. any thoughts?

But you can use the submasters.
if you do it like this: or something like it, just giving a idea.

Sm1: Sequences with the Red, Green , Blue channel
r,g,b Snap
r,c,g,m,b,y Snap
r,g,b Fade
r,c,g,m,b,y Fade

SM2: Sequences with the Intensitie Channel
intensitie all
Odd on - Even off , Odd off - Even on Snap
Odd on - Even off , Odd off - Even on Fade
Random 2on Fade
Random 2on Snap
Random 3on Fade
Random 3on Snap

now you see 2 submasters with 4sequences and 7 sequences, this means you have (4x7=) 28 differnt way to play then back.
and with the Submaster intensitie, you can set the master intensitie from the led pars.

you can add 20 sequences to a cue file so 20x20= 400 Differnt way's to play then back ;)

thank you Spirit-

I haven't wrapped my head around this yet! LOL. I never tried the submasters. I hit the button by mistake one night and all my lights went out, that's the most I've messed with it!

I'm not understanding your SM2 list as far as intensities go -- just ons and offs? or setting variable intensities?

I'm totally intrigued by what you've written... now I must do some reading on submasters! THANK YOU, I'm so glad I put this question out there :D

yes just on and off's i would recomend to use 0 or 255 and nothing in between becuase you can also set the Master intensitie from you led with the Slider next to a Submaster.

Intensitie chases look at this one http://www.freestylersupport.com/wiki/fx to give some ideas, but you can also make your own chases.

i also forget to say your fixture needs a Seperate Intensitie channel otherwise i doesn't work. maby nice to know for other user that will be reading this topic. :D

And you can also do it like this
Sm1: Red chases
Sm2: Green chases
Sm3: blue chases
Sm4: Intensitie chases

so you can play them back in (20x20x20x20=) 160.000 differt way's :D

but i'm also still searching for a good way of programming,it this way. it's realy difficult.

I still haven't sat down and started doing this, I'm going to devote an afternoon soon. When you say "chases" exactly what are you describing? different Reds, or alternating Red with "off"?

Thank you again for all these ideas!!!

Chases <-> Sequences, it's the same
chases is easyer to write :D

most of the time if the led pars are the stage/dancefloor lighting i will do it with 2Submaster, and if the led pars are some special effects i use 4submasters.

but i mean just red, but keep in mind how you program it becuase, you can program it so that the color merge, but you can also program it so that the colors doesn't merge.(this is with the 4sm idea)
i also recommend to start with 2 submasters.

wow, these are intense! Once I figured out how to get the Cue to the SM box I was doing pretty good. Gear symbol->Open Cue->DRAG, not click!! LOL

I've programmed these right now (as per your recommendation, spirit):

Sm1: SM2:
r,g,b Snap All on
r,c,g,m,b,y Snap Odd on - Even off , Odd off - Even on Snap
r,g,b Fade Odd on - Even off , Odd off - Even on Fade
r,c,g,m,b,y Fade Random 2on Fade
Random 2on Snap
Random 3on Fade
Random 3on Snap

It took me a while to figure out how to set the intensity without a color, but I seem to have got it. What are the orange stars/asterisks that come under the fixtures?

When these two sequences run at the same time, how do things react when a "Snap" in the first SM hits with a "Fade" in the second SM?

And you can also do it like this
Sm1: Red chases
Sm2: Green chases
Sm3: blue chases
Sm4: Intensitie chases
That just blew my mind! :? I made a lot of progress tonight, but this will have to wait. How the heck....???

Sm1: SM2:
r,g,b Snap All on
r,c,g,m,b,y Snap Odd on - Even off , Odd off - Even on Snap
r,g,b Fade Odd on - Even off , Odd off - Even on Fade
r,c,g,m,b,y Fade
Random 2on Fade
Random 2on Snap
Random 3on Fade
Random 3on Snap
i also recommend to add a Intensitie all, just One step all ledpar intensitie's @ 255

It means Thats those fixtures are in a sequence, it only happins if your creating a sequence.
When these two sequences run at the same time, how do things react when a "Snap" in the first SM hits with a "Fade" in the second SM?
Just play the seqeunces and you will see.

and also a nother thing nice to know, is if you play the submasters you notice thate the sequence doesn't run sync. to let it run sync you can tap sync and they will play sync.

but you can also make groups to the submaster and i recommand to set MS1 and SM2 to group1, this way you only need to press one time Play and both the submasters will play, and will be playing automatic sync.
http://www.freestylersupport.com/wiki/submaster look at here for the group feature.

The basic idea is to just seperate Fixture channels to a Submaster.
