Is this DMX interface suitable?

Post by darkksyde »

Hi Guys,
I'm interested in getting into DMX lighting but don't have a significantly large budget.
Just wondering if I would be alright to use this USB to DMX interface: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/USB-DMX-Inte ... 483wt_1139
One thing ive noticed about it is that the DMX out is male. Shouldnt this be female to be able to input correctly into the lights if you sort of get what I mean.
Let me know if there are any other interfaces available for either the same price or cheaper.
Thanks :)

Get an Enttec Pro. Hands down it's the best there is. Save yourself future hassles. And no, I don't work for Enttec.
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Get an ultraDMX Pro, a ton more features than the competition.
http://DMXking.com USB DMX and ArtNet interfaces.

I bought the following USB-DMX512 module about 6 months ago

Is this unit any good or must I rather get a ENTTEC module?

Just a Quick read and it seems like the USB-DMX512 device uses the FTDI chip and thats the same one as Enttec, DMXking and some other brands uses.

So it should work ok.

But i use the Enttec pro and never had any trouble.

Thank you Spirit for your reply
Reading through all the posts it was very obvious that the ENTTEC module is better.
and if I had the chance I would have rather bought the ENTTEC module.
I'm new in the world of DMX so...I'm learning as I go along.
I also want to congratulate everyone with an excellent- and helpful forum.
Hopefully I will also add to this forum when my system is up and running
