Freestyler or Chauvet Obey 4....what's your preference?

I have two Chauvet colorstrips (one is a mini) and I have them linked (master/slave) and connected to an Obey 4 controller. On another forum, most of the people there have nothing positive to say about the Obey 4 and said it didn't work or couldn't work. They urged me to get another DMX controller by Chauvet (one of the more expensive controllers where one can see the numbers) or a DMX controller such as Freestyler. I would like to see the color numbers and had thought that the Obey 4 was the best choice based on my research. It has taken me some time to learn what I do know at this point about DMX and how to address the colorstrips, which I think I now understand.
I was told that the Obey 4 would not give me half red and half green lights on at the same time on the same colorstrip and that was impossible with the Obey 4. I found that surprising that it couldn't do something that basic. I was told I needed two separate colorstrips to do that (red on one and green on the other). Well, I've been successful with having the controller do what I was told it couldn't do on that other forum. I wouldn't doubt that Freestyler can do more than my controller which is why I'm interested in Freestyler. One effect I've been looking to do with the colorstrip is a rainbow flag effect moving on the color strip in a continuous slow sweep from left to right or right to left. Can Freestyler do that? To anyone who uses or has used both the Obey 4 and Freestyler, would you mind comparing the two and stating your preference for one or the other? Thank you very much in advance for your help.
