Startup problems

I'm running Freestyler 3.3.2 on a laptop with Windows 7 and a usb/DMX dongle on Enntec open DMX
Sometimes, particularly if I haven't used it for a while, Freestyler won't start.
I always start it with the dongle plugged in and all the fittings connected and switched on.
The only way I've found to get it to work is to reinstall Freestyler, which is a bit time consuming.
Has anyone else had this problem?

I've been having a whole lot of problems this past month, but I have been using the Enttec USB Pro. I've been able to figure out that it is a Enttec driver issue. Windows update thinks it has a better USB driver than the one on the Enttec website. If you unplug your Enttec, Freestyler starts up just fine but with the "error creating output thread" message. Plug the Enttec USB in and Freestyler crashes on startup with just a "needs to close" message. I've had to uninstall the drivers and play with intalling the drivers over and over again until it works. I don't know why if it is the Enttec USB driver that Freestyler won't give me the "error creating output" instead of crashing. I was using 3.3.9 and even upgraded to the 3.4 and the problem is still there. Try starting with out the USB plugged in and I bet that Freestyler will open just fine proving that it's the USB driver issue

Thanks
I think the problem is that the dongle is sensitive to faults, and there was a faulty light fitting, and a faulty cable. That would upset the dongle, causing Freestyler to crash, then I would have to reinstall it to get it going again. I've changed to a more expensive dongle in the hope it'll be more stable.

I was running Freestyler 3.2.8 on a laptop running Vista about a year ago for a party to run 36 DMX dimmers through an Enntec open-source interface, then put it all away. I just pulled it all out again, and Freestyler won't start; the Freestyler logo comes up, but then just disappears. Should I upgrade to 3.3.2? If so, can I just install it over the old version, and will all my settings be remembered? Or, is there some way I should go into the folder and save a settings file and place it somewhere into the 3.3.2 folder?
Hope I'm posting this in the right place
Thanks very much for your help!
