Freestyler to control EVL Spins - just blackout & slow mode

Hi folks, I use 3 EVL spins...

The pre-programmed light sequences are awesome on these lights so I wasnt that keen on using freestyler to control them. However, as I dont have the simple EVL micro controller that controls the basic functions, I have no way of turning on blackout or switching them to slow mode. I need a way which I can link them to freestyler, as I run freestyler with other lights, but just use the basic functions - BLACKOUT, SLOW etc. I definetly dont realy need to start programming sequences for them as they run excellent on their own in 'local mode'.

I am in the process of creating a fixture for them (not that sure if im doing it right?) and have looked in the manual and it does say that if all the channels are set to 255 the spin will operate via its own internal programs (which is what I need), so I need to build the fixture so I can just turn them on/off with freestyler but just let them go on their own, but be able to slow them down when I play slow music. Would be good if I could select the gobo/colour if I want, but this isnt essential.

Im not sure if any of this is possible and how to set it up right.

The manual for them is here -

Would appreciate as much help as possible.

Thanks guys

If I get the manual right, you will be able to set the fixtures to use the internal programs by setting all DMX channels to 255. But the moment you set one channel to anything else (for example to slow mode) the internal programs will stop, because not every channel is set to 255 then. This is how I understand it. Of course, you can change between internal programs and blackout then. But slow mode will not work.

What suprises me is the unused DMX channel. The say it has 3 channels to control the lights but telling you need 4 channels:
BASE=DISH. BASE+1=GOBO/COLOUR. BASE+2=N/A. BASE+3=DIMMER
You can crate a simple 4 channel fixture with FixtureCreator and try how the lights reacts if you use the sliders within FreeStyler to set all channels to 255 or to set blackout or slow mode. Then you can define macros for quick accass to predefined sets of DMX values.

hi mavi

that works well what you sugested...

I made a fixture that works the blackout, all the gobos and rotation etc.. Then added a macro that puts all channels to 255 and it works well.

Only problem is when i put them in 255 - stand alone mode the work independant and not together like they do in master slave mode.

Just wondered if any1 knows a way which i can connect them in master slave mode and use freestyler to do all the above?

Ill try evl but they are very hard to get hold of

thanks
