This is the first forum I've ever posted... :!:

I have decided to experiment with RGB, using LEDs.

I have aquired the following items:
-(2) QuadPuck 4016 {it is a 4 channel dmx diver interface with 350mA current drivers}
-The Free DMX software from FreeStyler
-Plan on using XLAMP XPE LEDs by Cree

I want to start by seeing the different colors I can achieve by manipulating the currents of each channel. The QuadPuck connects to my PC with a RJ45 connections. I haven't had much luck getting started yet but I have been reading the help files. I'm going to try and make a fixture but does the QuadPuck qualify as one??

I'm open to any and all suggestions.
Thanks

Welcome to the big world. :D

You do know that the protocol over the RJ45 connectors on the QuadPuck is DMX and not network (TCP/IP)?
You can't connect that to your computer directly. You'll need a USB to DMX interface. DMX Protocol will come out on an XLR 3 or 5 female connector. That output can be connected to the RJ45 input of your QuadPuck.

Yes - a fixture is ANY equipment that responds to DMX signal on the daisy chain.
So when it responds to DMX somehow, even a cell phone is a fixture.
