Disabling DMX400 + Shapes + FX

Hello Folks, meanwhile (thanks to a great forum what lead me into lots of sulutions) I digged deep into FS I guess. maybe you can give me a hint to solve the following problems:
1. Once started the DMX400 it seems to master everything else because of the LTP function. Is it possible to de-active the DMX400 during the show? (If I close the DMX400 window it still runs in the background).
2. I would like to route the shapes into other than Pan/Tilt channels - in my case to the RGB channels of the connected Pars (Showtec 18 Tri LEDs).
3. I would like to edit the shapes in the FX-Generator. Or add some more if possible. Would be great to have a square shape with several lenghts (i mean the ratio between On and Off status).
3b My Showtec LED Pars have a chanel with 32 (or so) pre-defined colors. But this channel doesnt show up in the effect generator destination list. Would it be possible to pimp the fixture file to get it in the list?
Thanks a lot for thinking MY problems over.
Cheers, Henry

Another thing: Could I have a "Black = all RGB=0" in the predefined Colors when selecting chase FXes? (I would give away the dark lavender)
tia.

Hi there. It is late, I am tired, but I will try to answere some of your questions quickly:
2) PAN/Tilt are only 2 (or 4 at 16 bit fixtures) channels, so it could be hard to send it to 3 RGB channels. What you can do: create your owne fixture file, set the RGB channels to "pan" and "tilt" in fixture creator. Now the values for the shape will be sended to that channels. Of course you will loose any other RGB channel support... [Idea is untested]
3) Open the movement window, select the shape you want to edit and klick the "Shape" button. A window will appeare where you can drag and drop the corners (Red/Yellow) and direction-vectors (Blue). You can klick on "Save" at that window and select a shape-name. Then the shape will be created as a new one with that name.
3b) Do not exaclty know, what you want to do, but you can for example add some macros or specivic values for a color-channel (which has to be definded) in the fixture creator by editing the fixture file. You can of course use a macro too, to set all RGB channels to 0 with only one click.

Hi Mavi an thx for replying to my problem.
2. I will give the fixture creating a try, but I think you are right in having troubles by losing RGB features.
3. I didnt want to have an rectangle shape in the pan/tilt fx but in the _sequence_ fx. I miss the rectangle a lot. Sinus, Cosinus and Saw are great but for many ideas I would like to have some rectangle to route it to the RGB channels.
3b. The fixture built-in "macros" give somepredefined colors without using the RGB channels. I know about macros in the fixture profile and already use them. Imagine MY macros as a second color wheel. when using this channel with another value than 0 (zero) RGB is switched off. I would like to route the sequence fx to this channel but it isnt listed in the drop down menu. Maybe I only have to rename this specific channel in the profile - but dont know to WHAT name.
cheers,
Henry

Ok, now I got what you mean with FX. Never used that Feature... Well, a rectangle could be difficult, because it will break some mathematic rule: for every X position, only one Y position. Do not know if FS could handle this.
If you want to route the sequence fx to that channel, define that channel as one channel listed in the drop down. Do not know if simple renaming does the job or if you have to realy define the channel.

Thanks again Mavi for helping.
Meanwhile I programmed the show for Friday without using DMX400 and worked around the things I've missed. Maybe FS will have some of my wishes in a later relase.
Yours Henry
