Strange behavior with Submaster and Cue-List

I just played around a little and discovered some strange behavior. I created some sequences for my fixtures. PAR, Scanner and so on are running and are contrlled by submaster. Now I wanted to create a "thunder storm". This means a sequence where every fixture flashes up for a realy short periode. I enabled the "random" function in the cue list. The sequence runes fine and locks nice. And every time it locks different off course.

While puting it all together I run in trouble:
First I just added the thunder storm sequence to the last cue list slot (I use only 10 slots for my fixtures yet so it was empty). I started the sequences using the submaster. Then I started the thunder storm by hitting the play button next to the cue list slot. I hoped this will override the running sequences. What can I say. It overrides the running sequences. But not in the expected way: the lights blacked out! In the channels that I wanted to be overwrite are set to 0. After stopping the thunder storm the normal sequences run on.

Ok, do not give up... Another try with a different methode:
I created a cue list with only one entry - the thunder storm. I added it to an empty submaster. I started the normal sequences again using submaster. Then I started the thunder storm using the submaster. Now everything works fine. I stopped the thunderstorm and the "normal" sequences run again. Yeah, finaly got it working the way I want to.

But the question is: why does it not work when using a cue list entry direclty? Why do I have to take the long way using the submaster also for the thunder storm?

Use overide buttons for your thunder storm sequence.
I imagine it's just a single scene sequence ? So overides are perfect to do the job.
I use overides to run my strobes. The scene is programmed to black out all the other fixtures and only flash strobe.
I contol the overide on my bcf2000, overide is set to flash so it only runs the overide while I hold if down.

Works a treat!

I would of course use override buttons but the sequence has more then one step. For every fixture to flash up (some PAR, some scanners) I need a single step. With the random step order I get that no thunder storm is looking like the one before. Thats why I took the way I discribed. As I told I got it working. But I still wonder why if I use a cue list slot directly the fixtures just black out and if I use a submaster with the same sequence everything works.
