Hey Mattotone,

I just finished up a theatre show using GO Monkey and I want to thank you because it worked extremely well. Thanks for your work on the app, it would have been pretty hard for me to pull off what I did without it. Looking forward to future updates!

I am trying to get it fixed today but I am totally stuck. I searched all the replies on this post but I can't find my answer.

In short what I have done:
In Reaper I've got a midi track which should trigger Go Monkey.
The track I've set so output: LoopBe Internal MIDI

In the program MIDIOX I have changed the setting and I can readout the LoopBe Internal MIDI (see screenshot). But the problem is, which code do I need to fill in at Go Monkey?
And how do I know which is the right device in Go Monkey?

Here's what you need to do:
1. In reaper create a midi track and create any note.
2. Make a loop region on around your midi note ( so when you push play and leave the program it keeps playing the midi note.
3. Now push the play button in reaper and make sure it keeps looping so it plays so gomonkey can detect the midi trigger.
4. Now go to gomonkey and go to setup and click in the midi field where you want reaper to send midi trigger.

Gomonkey should automatically recognize the midi trigger from reaper.

If you can't get it I will try and put the video together tonight.

Best
Edward

Thanks edoerfel

I will give it a try tonight! I will let you know if I have fixed it :)

Does it matter what kind of midi channel and kind of midi software (like LoopBe1 or YokeMidi) I use?

Yesssss, I fixed it! The problem was I didn't set the midi setup in Freestylerdmx. I changed this to the same midi device I use in Reaper and now it works !!! Me so happy !!!

Well I thought I worked it out. It worked just one time. Can you please make a tutorial? It is still not working.

I made screenshots of my settings.

Do I need to open Freestylerdmx also when I use Go Monkey?
How can I capture the midi cc? It goes very fast and it returns everytime back to 248. I already tried different settings with the midi device (cc notes on/off etc. see screenshot).

In which state must Freestylerdmx be?Must I define the midi device I want to use in Go Monkey?
Do I need to have the midi device to be started in Freestylerdmx?

When I have defined the midi settings in Go Monkey. In which state do I have to set Go Monkey to let Go Monkey do the work and listing to the midi? Do I need to start Midi?

Is there also an order for all those programs to start up so it will propperly?
Reaper, Freestylerdmx, Go Monkey for example?

I am using Midi Yoke 1, is this a good way to work or I need to work with other midi in and outputs?

Hey I am still planning on getting a tutorial video to you, for now try this guide. This is what I used to get it to work. Just when it gets to the freestyler midi part do it in GoMonkey like I posted before on this forum.

In Reaper:
1. Open your audio file and add a new track.
2. Click on the new track to activate it, and Insert --> New MIDI Item
3. Use the MIDI editor to insert your Lighting cues in time with the music. Each note should correspond with gomonkey

Then, you'll need to make sure your MIDI outputs are Enabled. Make sure LoopBe1 is running (should be visible in your Taskbar) and then
In Reaper:
1. Go to Options --> Preferences
2. Click on Audio --> MIDI Devices
3. Underneath where it says "MIDI Outputs to make available", make sure LoopBe1 is Enabled. If it says <disabled> then right-click on it and Enable it so it looks like this:
Inline image 1

4. Finally, go to your MIDI track in Reaper and click on the little button next to the track title that says "I/O"
5. The Routing window pops up. Where it says "MIDI Hardware Output", use the dropdown to select "LoopBe Internal MIDI"

So in reaper you should have already created a midi track and created any note.
2. Make a loop region on around your midi note ( so when you push play and leave the program it keeps looping the midi note.

Then, all you should have to do is hit Play on Reaper. The MIDI will get sent through the LoopBe1 output, and FreeStyler should receive the MIDI triggers which will activate your sequences.

Good luck... I hope it works for you! It's pretty sweet to see the lights triggering in time with the music.

Hi matt. I am about to start using go monkey. I currently use submasters and overrides to control show.
When I am doing show using go monkey can I use submasters overrides etc in freestyler. My idea is to start with simple cue stack intro main ending type cues and use submasters and overrides at same time. Can I do this.
Cheers
Pete

yes, but go monkey uses the same 20 cue slots that your subs will also use

Hi,

I'm trying to get Multiplay to work with GO Monkey, and looking back through this thread it looks like others have managed it. The Multiplay cue is set to send 127 and then 0 as a CC.

I'm using LoopBE1 and Multiplay looks like it's outputting MIDI correctly (viewed via MIDI-OX), but I can't get Go Monkey to respond. GO Monkey allows me to select from 3 midi devices ( device 0, 1 and 2). I'm not sure which, if any, of these is the LoopBE1 input?

Any ideas??

Thanks
Richard

Of course, no sooner had I posted the above when I made some progress :? . It seems the LoopBE1 input was not Device 0, 1 or 2. I removed another physical midi device (V-Studio 20), and now I can get GO Monkey working on device 1. It will also work with a Kord NanoPAD as device 0.

Does GO Monkey only work with midi inputs if they are in the first 3 device IDs?

Thanks
Richard

Hi All, been looking for something like this for a little while. I have GM on the desktop but I just cant fathom out how to make and load cues into it. I note they are .chb files which I copied over to FS chases but I dont see them with trying to load in GM. Can anyone help with some basic advice on what files I can use and exactly where to put them for GM please....??

Hi Mattotone!

I'm experiencing an issue with GoMonkey crashing. It's either an issue with MIDI from Reaper or it's something to do with pressing the space bar. I'm not sure.
Are you still developing GoMonkey? If so, are there any kind of crash logs I might be able to access to post here for you to look over and see what might be wrong?

Thanks
