Is it possible to make SHOWS for someone else?

If I were to list my fixtures, and their addresses, is it possible that another person could create a couple of fast dance shows, and a couple of slow dance shows, and then somehow send me the shows?

Is that even technically possible? Will those shows work on my machine if they were created on someone else's?

If this is possible, would anyone (that makes awesome shows) be willing to assist me? My wedding season is coming very quickly.

I'd be willing to pay a reasonable fee for your time.

Thank you!

PS: I'm fairly good at working Freestyler and setting up cues, sequences, etc.. I'm just not as creative as I can be to actually create a show that looks great.

you can make a location file which contains fixtures and fixture address. if someone makes some sequences for you they have to send the location file and the folder for sequences to you. (maybe you can use the backup feature, but it copies everything in the sequence folder. otherwise you have to do it manually)

I always make my programming offline at my private laptop, make a backup (which contains the needed data for the location) file and restore it on my show laptop. so yes, it is possible

I don't have the time nor the experience. and you would not get off the hook if someone make it for you. you still have to adjust the sequences, beacuse we dont have your setup at our place. we have to programme the whole thing in the visualizer.

I think it is better to do it yourself (find some ideas on youtube or from dmxlighting's demo, uploaded on this forum). maybe there are FS uses near you who could help you?

If I were you, I would look around for such talent at theatre colleges in or around NYC! I'm sure there's many willing and capable individuals there, especially since Stage Lighting is often taught in courses. In addition to pay and being able to work hands-on with your DMX equipment, there's several other services you can offer to sweeten the deal.

A long time ago, I worked at a club that had massive amounts of DMX lighting. We'd stop the dancing at midnight to perform live lightshows for the clubbers that was synchronized to pre-recorded music. The music was mostly mixes we made beforehand from soundtracks. You know, a little bit of the intro to Superman, followed by a cut from Star Wars, then a bit of Batman and so forth. You could offer the opportunity to do the same for them, and video tape the whole thing so they can add it to their portfolio, along with photographs of their lighting design at wedding receptions.

And who knows... a theatre major working with you for a little while might come up with DMX and lighting ideas to offer you too.

It Is possible, as said above. But the main point of FreeStyler is the FREE part :) Out of interest though, what fixtures do you own/use and what program ideas are you looking for? I may be able to help you at for little or no charge... I enjoy making shows :D

I'm basically looking for a couple of fun shows for fast songs, and a couple of nice romantic shows for the slow songs.

Here are my fixtures, and their addresses.

1-6 Chauvet Colorsplash 200B
7-12 Chauvet Colorsplash 200B
13-18 Chauvet Colorsplash 200B
19-24 Chauvet Colorsplash 200B
25-29 Chauvet Colorsplash Jr.
30-34 Chauvet Colorsplash Jr.
35-37 American DJ Sunray Tri-LED
38-41 Chauvet Colorstrip
42-45 Chauvet Colorstrip

That would be awesome!! I'm running Freestyler version 3.2.8. Usually, the 200B's are around the room as "uplightts. The colorsplash Jr.s are behind the DJ booth. And, the colorstrips will be over my head facing the dancefloor to provide dancefloor wash.

Thank you!

Here is a drawing of how I anticipate the setup. A simple T-Bar (God I hate T-Bars), in back or on the side of me. A couple of colorsplash Jr's in front or in back of me as uplights. Four 200b's. One in each corner of the room used as uplights. OOHHH And the Tri-LED in the middle of the T-Bar!! I forgot to draw that.
