An old Daslight user might be able to tell you that. There are at least a few of them on this forum.
But "better" is a bit subjective, it really depends on what you want and what you expect to get.

The only real way to get your answer is to try it. FreeStyler is free, so take a shot.

FreeStyler has Blackout button, Master Fader, Submasters, much better sound 2 light (thanks remco), proper midi control not just launching scene, you can control nearly all of FreeStyler with it, there is much much more. One downside, no DMX IN unless you have a Martin interface.
Honestly Daslight sucks compared to FreeStyler and I was a devout DVC1 and DVC2 user and the most prolific poster on the Daslight forum, but they have blown it big time.

Thanks Andre

Maybe another quicq question before i start trying Freestyler.
I have to set up a gig with a soundtrack of +/- 1hour. I have to programm some lightscenes to this soundstrack (thunder and lightning) but am not able to manage the buttons. So everything has to go automaticly. The answer Daslight gave me is to change to Sunlite... can this be done with freestyler?

I am not the best person to explain the programming side of things in FreeStyler.

So what you are after is a HUGE lot of steps/cues that will last around an hour without any intervention?

Guys can that be done ?

I would have to say...... YES it can

Very easily too! Just use the 'Cue' window and setup the desired cue to run at a given time. So the only thing is knowing what time the show starts and then working out the exact time that the sequence is required to run. I will say that there is always a massive chance that during a live performance that and 'exact' time triggered cue will start in the wrong place because of other factors like maybe someone messes up a bit and the show is 10 seconds behind time ?
Your cue will then be out by 10 seconds (could be a problem).
