Hi,

I'm new to FS, I just bought an Enttec DMX PRo. I choosed to work with FS as the sound to light and fixture support is very good.
I've got 2 scanners I want to control (Eurolite TS-7b)

When I open the pan/tilt window it's very difficult to move the light manually. I assigned up/down right/left to the keybord arrows but 1 push=1 step
I want to be able to control the movement like for example scrolling this webpage. The problem is : hold buttons wont work!

I hope I simply didn't understand the movement feature.

Now let's say I want to control it with the touchpad of my laptop, is it only possible to control movement by holding the mouse on the dot ? I would like to be able to click the pan/tilt window once and have total control with one finger on the touchpad of my lights. When I'm finished I click again and my mouse goes back to normal.

I'm I dreaming ???

Fs don't support the feature you are describing. however i know that some touch pad drivers supports it. the synaptics driver do, I used it for some years ago. the language on my computer is Danish so don't know what the feature is called in English.

In fact what I would want is much easier and program based. In simple terms => make the mouvement feature more user-friendly.
Everything is present, from fanning, forms, resolution,... but simply controlling the big blue dot like you control PACMAN isn't ???
I find this really strange, it's like doing 99% of something and let 1% that would complete everything stranded.

Its not that strange you can't move the pan/tilt controls without having to push the mouses button.
I get what you mean, but for what?
Are you controlling the pan/tilt controls by hand during a complete show? Why is that? Or for what else?
Controlling pan/tilt by hand is used only for a short time of manual override or during programming of a sequence.
If thats not the case, then you are doing stuff wrong or using stuff for what they are not made. Or I am missing a point somewhere.

So I'm really curious why (or what for) you need the function to respond for a longer period of time to your mouse without having to push the button.

Let's stay with the keyboard arrows. Up/down and right/left works but I want to be able to do thissssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss without having to pushpushpushpushpushpushpushpushpushpushpush again. It would help me and I'm sure many others to program scenes and sequences in different rooms much much faster.

I don't always have room for a mouse or somedays I hate touchpads because I hurt my finger, i'm eating something, my hands are wet...whatever.
+ when in live performance, when something happens (funny guy, pie, tabledancer, ...) I want to be able to override the movement and control everything with 1 hand as I'm usualy working alone (DJ + LJ). Just like a simple DMX controller with a joystick! It's that simple, so I don't get how such a great, wellthought program wouldn't have such a simple, logical function.

1 push = 1 step (up/down/right/left) => OK this works!
1 push-hold = full throttle until maximum angle/position is obtained => impossible at the moment!
=> Or you've got to find your mouse, get it on the blue dot, click the right mouse button, and then while holding that button play with the dot with the other hand, AND look at your screen where you are going => that's annoying! With the arrows I can move almost eyes shut, so in this case with my eyes on the visualiser or even better on the actual lights/stage!

It's precisely as if pitch/bend buttons could only be tapped and not pushed-hold, or a digital timer/clock/alarm would only be programmable by pushing second after second. It's natural to hold a button until the desired value is obtained, even digital DMX adresdisplays on fixtures can do this. I don't see me pushing 200 times on one button to get to that DMX startadress on multiple fixtures !

Now, the real question is : can you do it ? are you ready to make freestyler more user friendly ?
( I won't talk about the unfriendly fixture icon movement, or select-click icon colors on freestyler's desktop at the moment )

I agree with Gtaris. And as far as why would you want to control your lights by hand?

Example 1: Wedding... bride's dance. wouldn't it be great to point you scans like spot lights at the dancers and follow them around?

Example2: Stage.... band is playing use you moving head spots to follow singer on stage.

Example 3: Security... Someone starts a fight use the scanners as a spot light to point out the offender.

Example 4: Just for the fun of it... yeah I am bored so I want to make it so I can move the lights how I want when I want.

It would be nice if the system could be set for usb controlled game pads. They usually have two or three joysticks. So it would be great to assign a fixture to a joystick. also all the buttons could be configured for different things... blackout, fog, stepping, it would work just like the keyboard option but set to a button.
