Hi

it is possible to save a sequence in the sequence window. This file is saved as .chb. I have to manipulate this file, but I don't know which format it has (MIDI...?).
Can anybody help?

Thanks

Johannes

there is a couple of topics about the same question:

Export

Programming Sequences

but it doesn't seem there is a exact answer yet. try contacting the developer, raph and ask. When you get respond it would be nice if you could post the answer in this topic. I think it would please some people (including me ;))

I can't see why anyone would need to read or change the .chb files except via the sequence editor. I am interested to know why.

I would hazzard a guess that they are formatted in a programming language like C or something like that. I think in earlier versions of FS these file were
formatted in plain text but I still dont think editing the file directly would have been possible even then.

I think its very unlikely that Raph will make these files editable except as I said earlier, via the sequence editor.

If you have a lot of steps and need to edit a value in each step, it could be great to have an editor (like the old offline editor) where you can see all used channels in each step without stepping trough the steps in the normal editor. you get a better overview, and you may have the possibility to copy some steps to another sequence.

that's my point of view: you get more flexibility ti change and copy steps/sequences, and can make it quicker.

EDIT: ALso these two posts are good arguments for the possibility to read and edit the .chb files, (or a chb editor):

Ok I do get it. The old offline editor was perfect for changing values and if needed changing snap to fade or even turning channels off. I do miss this feature.

Obviously Raph has changed the way FS works since v3 and the files that contain this info are now formatted in a very different way so that feature is lost.

If a .chb editor can be made that works in a similar or the same way as the old offline editor then that would be ideal.

I second this, I really miss the old offline editor. It was great for quickly changing values to hard values, rather than using the sliders. Also, i could change lots of fixtures really quickly.
