couple of questions from newbie

Hi Guys,

I'm pretty new with FS and DMX512. I bought some gear, essentially for party light effect (my son is 14, so he want to become the DJ/LJ)

First, let me tell you what I have, so you have a better idea of what I'm playing with...

2 x 4 ch. dimmer pack
1 x stobe
1 x Chauvet Kinta-X
1 x LED Barrel scanner (chinese version ... I know ....)

As you can see, these are very basic... On one of my dimmer pack, I have connected 4 PAR

the second one has blacklight, pin spot (for disco ball), laser gizmo and a fogger's control (fogger itself is always plugged into AC)

here are my questions/concerns.

first; is it me or FS is not complete as a software ?? The reason I ask, is because when I open any windows, there is no text on most button; only tool tip on some of them... Typical example is the DMX400.... RGB button have no text, fixture button don't, auto-change does'nt , etc ....

second: is there a way to force a channel to have only 0 and 255 as a value. My fogger control is a relay that enable/disable the fogger itself. it needs 120 vac to operate. if I power it below 80-90 VAC, it become instable....

third: Sound2Light. On the computer running FS, I connected my Line in from another computer running winamp. I want to use the S2L with my 4 PAR. When I enable the sound to light, the bargraph start to "beat" and the lights flickers... not really to the beat, but they seem to "have fun".... if I pause the music, the bargraph will keep on flickering for 2-3 more seconds, then stop. It looks like the S2L is 2-3 seconds behind the actual music....Is that right ???

fouth: when using PAR, is there a way to create macro buttons for them ?? I would rather have buttons than the slide pot to control them. I tried to create a custom fixture, with 1 channel. Iwas then able to create macros, but I could not use it with the DMX400: I was getting a message stating that my fixture did not have an intensity and was not an RGB fixture .....

That's it for now.... any help on any of the questions would be greatly appreciated !

Regards,

Jasmin
