midi trigger

I would like to have midi trigger or translate directly to DMX. I have midi music files I can play, a midi keyboard and a midi drum machine with pads that you can hit with drumsticks. I have been trying to assign 1 note to one light (parcan). My hope was, for instance, to softly play middle C and have the red light light up dimly and then play F hard and loud to make the green light shine brightly. We've read the help file and from set up we have been able to acquire and assign midi notes. We've also tried assigning notes to buttons and a few other things, but nothing works. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a little "follow up" on this...
I have almost the same setup as you, but for me its working by assigning "midi notes" to control the cue's/sequences the only problem is that the velocity on the note have to be 127 pushed hard! It doesn't seem that we have the oppertunity to control the velocity.
I have solved this problem by using the Midi Solution Event Processor Plus (
http://www.midisolutions.com/prodepp.htm) here you can decide what midi output should be when you are pushing note 65 etc. I have made it so far that I control my digital Yamaha 01v96 v2 mixer this way, when I am pushing note 103 the internal effect 1 turns on and by pushing note 104 it goes off again.
Hope this is a little help, by anyway I will look forward to get the midi feature to control the velocity in FreeStyler.
Regards
Rico

i think there is a midi velocity in the freestyler.ini but i will have to check this.
The method you have mentioned should work fine, for full out put you require to hit very hard though to achive a velocity of 127 for full brightness.
I can't see anything wrong with your setup, is it not producing the desired effect or just not doing anything at all?
