Hello,
In Add / Remove Fixtures, make sure that the Ignore Master Intensity is not checked.
Also make sure that it has a LAMP channel in Fixture Creator.

thanks for your reply
I had already checked on Add/Remove Fixtures that the Ignore the Master Intensity is not checked.
To test I created a fixture (a par 64) with only 1 channel called "LAMP" but the master intensity makes nothing. I also tried on a moving head to assign the channel "Lamp channel" but nothing happens, even if the master intensity decrease output remains at the highest.
What could be the problem?

Hey there.
I read all threads including the words "master intensity" found by the search function but I can't get it workin.
I switched from Freestyler 2.9j to 3.28 so there are a few version I don't work with but has master intensity function changed so much?
As I said I read all threads about "master intensity" but I can't find a solution for my problem.
Can please somebody tell me how to use it?! It would be nice if yue explain it for nerds. For example in a way like:
1. Start Freestyler
2. Start lamps
and so on.
Master Intensity is a realy usefull function so it would be nice if I can use it so it wold be nice if somebody could help me.
Thanks a lot.
I'm sorry for my bad english

Master intensity does rely on the fixure and its profile you are using having an intensity channel. When I get some time I will try and explain this better but Im off out now . Someone will probably post to fill you in.........

If I don't misunderstood the fixture I want to use with "master intensity" must have an "intesity" channel.
Some weeks ago I tried to modify the Martin Mac 250 KRypton fixture and named the "Dimmer" channel into "intesity". Unfortunately without success. Master Intestiy doesn't work. What did I wrong?
Or have I misunderstodd and the mistake is something else?

If your fixture has a shutter channel then it will most likely work with master intensity as well. You may have to edit the fixture profile so that fs knows where its is. Its worth reading Onges tutorial on the fixture creator, this will explain how to do this.
Also beaware that master intensity only works when used on cue and submaster playback. If you are using fs in a more manual mode (like from the squence editor) it will not have any effect at all. - See my (dmxlighting) tutorial on the using cues and submasters.
Both guides are downloadable from thr forum and also on the FS Wiki

That could be the problem. I'll test it as soon as possible.
I can remember that master intensity a few versions ago works in all "playback modes". Is it right?

Yes but cue and submaster are the only true way of playingback. I would never consider that playing sequences back from sequence creator for a live show was the correct way to do things. Its not and if that is how you are using fs then please consider a better approach and then the MI will work as it should.

Onge wrote:I can use the Master Intensity without any sequences/cues/submasters being used or created.
If you have used the sliders for "dimmer" channels on the right side of the screen, then the master intensity worked for me.
Note - All @ 100% and Fade In will only take the channels to the value you set on the sliders, they will not go to a full 100% (255) unless that is what was set on the sliders.
Quite right Onge. I was not considering that as a form of playback but it will work and it does count!

I already tried this and it doesn't work that was the reason for my question here.
This weekend I tried it with the submasters like in dmxlightings wiki discribed and it worked. I created the intensity submaster via the first button from the sequence list. In the wiki is dicribed that after creating the submaster I can use the sequence button for something else but it was grey and I can't use. Can't I use this sequence button if the submaster ist running?
Esspecially I asked myself this weekend what the sense on submasters is?! Why can't I use the Sequence list and the Cue buttons for the show? What ist the sense on creating these lists in the submaster? Calling something back via the keyboard from the sequence list and the cue butons is much more easier than calling back from the submaster list isn't it?

Im not sure I completly follow what you are say here.
Maybe you are missunderstanding the purpose of the submasters or are you expecting more from them?
Have a look at this -

Everything that is listed in the #1 Submaster, plays in the #1 spot of the cue window. Everything that is listed in the #2 Submaster, plays in the #2 spot of the cue window. And so on. 20 sequences fit in one cue and a Cue of 20 sequences fit in one Submaster. Yes, it is greyed out in the Cue window when you are running the submaster.
I also don't think you have your hands around the submasters yet. Don't give up on them yet. You will love it once you understand it. You should also read my description of the submaster in this post:

Hey Guys.
I'm sorry that I haven't wrote an answer all the time but I've realy much to do the last time and also in future. Because of this I haven't read the wiki about submasters but I will do so if I've a little more time in the future and the ask my questions.
But one question I've already yet. If I create a submaster with all the colors in it for example. How can I select/start a single color of this submaster by the keyboard? In the settings there is no option to set a keyboard key to a color out of the submaster.

When you have read the submaster tutorial it will make more sense but I will try to explain....
You have a submaster with sequences to control colours, 1 for red, 1 for green, 1 for yellow and so on. Lets say you have 5 different sequences in all.
You can navigate up and down the submaster and select any of the 5 sequences using keyboard shortcuts.
Back and Go will move the 'cursor' up and down the submaster and the 'go' button will run the highlighted sequence.
Take the time to go through the tutorial. Submasters cannot be fully explained in just a few words.
As you know you can find it on the wiki or download the pdf from the forum.
