Am I missing something re: fader control of submasters

Hi Guys,

I notice that some of you use the BCF2000 from behringer with freestyler, can I ask how you have this configured?

Do you use the faders to control submasters? And if so, what do you do with the extra faders, as far as I can see there are 8 faderes on the BCF but you can only access 5 of the submasters via midi.

Is there something that I am missing that allows direct access to more of the submaster fade levels?

Any advice appreciated :)

Kind regards
Ben

When you set up the midi notes in the Freestyler setup you can configure 4 buttons to select the 4 fans in the submaster window

for example,,
when i press the first button the led will light, the first fan of submasters is shown (1-5), then i know that fader 1-5 is controlling submaster 1-5,
When i press the second button this led will light, the second fan of submasters is shown (6-10)then i know that fader 1-5 is controlling submaster 6-10,

and so one,, the fader will control the visible submaster in the submaster window. the same goes if you have defined the back. go and run button to be controlled from the BCF.

I hope that helped, otherwise write again.

Ahh I see,

So you never use the last 3 faders on the BCF, at least not for submasters...?

I use Freestyler and bcf for controlling lights on the danceflooor

I use the page feature in freestyler, so i have 4 buttons, one to each page.

page 1: i'm using this oage when i am programming my lights,, the faders and buttons controlls the functions of the selected fixtures
page 2: i'm using this when i'm running my shows live,, then i'm using the BCF to control speed of each running sequences (with the encoders), the submasters (intensity, run, go, back) and some override buttons. also the tap sync is manual trigger is available on this page. i use the SHIFT function when i want to cancel manual trigger and tap sync by holding shift and manual trigger buttons down.. Shift its a very smart feature
Page 3-4: i'm using this to control predefined DMX channels, for example to control the intensity for some PARcans which is not controlled by any sequences from the submasters

I like to have the master on each pages so fader 8 is set up as master for all pages (independant) when i'm on page 2. ALso blackout, release all, pause is global buttons. fader 7 is the ,master speed. i using fader 6 to controll the strobe for my led Bars.

And then i have a global emergency botton. When I activate this override button, al my scanners and moving heads turn the white light on, removes all the gobos and light up the room with frost filter, alle other sequences are stopped. if the room has to be evacuated its nice fast to turn some light son so people dont get confused in dark and diskolight, but can see where they are going.

Submaster 1: Led Parcan / colourGobo
fader 1 - Submaster 1 speed
fader 2-submaster 1 intencity

Submaster 2: Movers / Scan Movements
Fader 3 - submaster 2 speed

Par can RGB Overide.
fader 4- Red
fader 5 - Green
fader 6 - Blue

Fader 7- Strobe Speed
Fader 8 - Strobe intencity

button 1 & 2 sUBMASTER 1 UP / DOWN
BUTTON 3&4 ------

Button 5&6 submaster 2 up/down
button 6&7 ----------------------

encoder 5 6 7 8 are dmx channels for par can dimmers
button 8 10 12 14 Bellow the encoder are release buttons for each par can
button 9 11 13 15 are blackout button for the par can groups

then the four buttons at the bottom are global blackout, favorite scene, led par can group release and tap sync.

i don't use pages i use the bcf presets if i need any thing else so that the console remembers my last setting.

I've been playing with the BCF2000 all day today. When your new to it, its enough to make you head explode. I simply am more and more amazed by how deep you can go with this software.
