Reading the manual of your fixtures or googling around should answer that question in 5 seconds.
But, since I'm here now:

8 bit: 1 DMX channel
16 bit: 2 DMX channels
Some fixtures have different modes, so they can be switched to 8 or 16 bit pan/tilt modes.
You create a fixture file for each mode, or just the mode you intend to use.
Obviously the 16-bit mode is preferred, if at all you can choose for that on your fixture.

So, if you have a fixture that says "16 bit pan/tilt mode" you need 4 DMX channels for all pan and tilt operations. 2 for pan and pan fine, 2 for tilt and tilt fine.
If your fixture is "8 bit pan/tilt" then 1 channel for pan and 1 channel for tilt is needed.
Fill that information in in the FixtureCreator (located in the FreeStyler program files path), also fill in the rest of the DMX values and youre done.
For the correct DMX channel definition, go ahead and look in your fixture's manual. If its not there: google.

For comparision or for learning purposes, open an already made fixture in de FixtureCreator, find its DMX channel definition somewhere online and see how someone else has done it.
You can use a fixture file I created for a simple moving head as an example: http://www.freestylersupport.com/fsforu ... 01&start=0
There's a link to the manufacturers website, there you can find the DMX channel definition.
