Hey guys,

Is it possible to have Freestyler automatically launch a cue or cuelist as soon as it boots?

It's just that the guys I work with are usually there before me, and want a bit of mood lighting before I arrive and jump on the lights.

Click Setup, then Freestyler Setup.
Expand the Preferences Tab and click on Extra Options
Then put a tick in the box 'Open cue and overrice buttons on startup'

Done!

that will not start the cues automatically, but its easier to start a cue.

remember you have to have a cue or override button which will turn on the lamps in your fixtures

So there's no way for a cue to load as soon as the software is opened?


That's okay. I may have to setup a keyboard shortcut for a cue, and then tell the guys to press it after the software is opened.

But they're not the sharpest tools in the shed...

I have a solution for you:

Make that cue keyboard shortcut. Then heat up your soldering iron and hook up a wireset on that key.
Then mount something like this:

On the wall and connect that keyboard wireset to it.

You tell them: Power on the computer, wait for boot complete, then press that red titty over there.

But it can be easier; just use a macro recorder in windows that presses that key after FreeStyler is started.

I used it some time to control some audio software on boot up. Keep in mind that keyboard keypresses _and_ mouse movements/clicks are recorded.
Also keep in mind that if you use mouseclicks, the click will go wrong after you've changed the screen resolution. So in order to be safe; just use WinMacro to press that one keyboard key. Nothing more.
Ofcourse you can still mount that red button on the wall, telling the other guys to press it, while its not connected.

I just got another idea

if you just want some simple mood lighting you can change the startup values for each channel in freestyler. however it cant run a cue by itself as already told, but this is in the right direction

1) select the fixtures you want to be turned on when freestyler starts

2) now set each of the fixtures as you want: intesity, position, gobo, gobo rotation color etc.
(maybe some of your light can be set in auto mode, light to sound or a colorchase by dmx?)

3) you can also set the values for your other fixturs you dont want to use, so they are ready to be turned on when you like.. just be sure the lamp value is set so the fixture not will turn on the lamp.

4) go to "edit" --> "Save as Startup Values"

now each time you starts freestyler these fixtures will turn on by itself. they wont move because no cues are running (unless you have set the dmx value for some kind of auto mode), but its better than nothing.
