Programming a Sequence

I am trying to create a sequence using LED Lights that starts bright white and the dims over
10 seconds to quite a dull white, I am not sure if they way I am going about it the right way so would appreciate any feed back as it does not work the way I think it should.
In Step 1 I have set all the channels to full giving me a full white, the fade and speed have been left at 1000.
In step 2 I have left RGB set full to give me white but have brought the dimmer channel down to 45, I have set the fade and speed to 10000 which I assume should dim it down over 10 seconds.
But for some reason it hold the RGB values but the dimmer is just always at 0.
Any help would be appreciated.

That is the way you should do that.
Where do you see the dimmer channel stays zero?
Does your fixture even respond to the dimmer channel when you control it by the faders on the right side directly?
Have you set the speed to 10 seconds also?
Are the used channels set to 'Fade'?

thanks for the quick reply.
when I have set the scene up and saved it, the dimmer appears to keep on defaulting back to 0.
if I use the faders on the right side I can make the changes I need which may be the answer as I have a show in just over 1 week that I need this effect for.
I will have to check the Speed settings tonight but I thought I had both the speed and Fade set to 10000
all the channels are set to fade.

Looking at that fixture in FS, I think the opposite of Onge. I think that the Shutter channel is the same as a Dimmer channel.
It just has the wrong name then.
The question to nplatt is:
-Please supply the DMX channel definitions of that fixture
-At the faders on the right, If you set R G and B to 255 and the Shutter to 255 then the light burns at full power right?
Then set the shutter to 100 or so, does it dim then?
It should work exactly the same when creating a sequence that way.

Thats correct if I set RGB snd shutter to 255 it bring the light to full brightness bringing the shutter value to 100 it dims the light.
from the manual the DMX channels are
1 = Red
2 = Green
3 = Blue
4 = Dimmer
5 = Flash
I have re done the scene off line tonight but it will be tomorrow night before I can test it with a light.

You can test offline using Sunlite 3d easy view.

Thanks to those who offered advice.
After 2 hours of hair pulling I have got it to work.
I dont know why it would make a difference but after lots of trying I worked out that if I set the channel to "Fade" before setting the value I wanted it to fade down to everything work just as I wanted.
I dont know if this is the best way to do this but it works for me and as I have 20 scenes with about 40 lights in each one I'm sticking to it untill I have more time to play.
