CRASHED and Memory Dump with Velleman

I've never had this problem on any computer before. Suddenly, when I try to select the Velleman K8062 as the interface with Freestyler and then click OK I get the blue screen of death and a memory dump. It doesn't happen when selecting the virtual interface. And, it doesn't happen using the Velleman on other computers. There are no error with the Velleman when looking into device manager.

In other words, I cannot get Freestyler to work with the Velleman.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would be helpfull if you told in what the crashdump tells you. Most of the time it says in what module the error occurs.
Next to that; does it work when you use Velleman's deliverd DMX software? Or do you get the same BSOD? (Blue Screen Of Death).
If so, try reinstalling the Velleman driver (K8026E.exe and K8062D.dll).

I installed the DMX software that came with the Velleman. When I went to OPEN the software, I again got the BSOD! The computer runs great otherwise.

What could suddenly be preventing me from getting the Velleman to play nice with any software? I can't find any drivers for it anywhere. I can't even determine which device the Velleman is in device manager.

Thank goodness this isn't happening on my DJ laptop. The Velleman woks fine on my other laptops w/ Freestyler. All running Windows XP

Well, thats good. It means that the problem has nothing to do with FreeStyler.

Maybe this works, just an idea:
In the windows device manager, look up the Human Interface Devices node (HID), in there is the Velleman interface (not named like that though).
It might be possible that the HID node is only there when the Velleman interface is attached.
If you found the Velleman HID device, remove that. Then disconnect the interface.
Then remove all USB devices from your device manager. Remember that things like USB mouse and keyboard will stop working. So you need a PS/2 mouse or keyboard to be able to reboot your computer nicely. After reboot windows detects all devices again and all should be working well.
And just maybe, no more BSOD.

Did you try my options?
Try reinstalling that .exe file from the Velleman CD.

Also check your system for virusses.

I tried your options. Thank you, but it didn't work. I obtained the exe file from both the CD, and their site. (Just in case I had a bad file). I run McAfee and all seems to be fine. Maybe I have something else (a peripheral) that is conflicting with it?

Do you have more HID devices connected? Try disconnecting them. Who knows...

FIXED! I uninstalled the blue Solis (sp?) software that was included with a little USB blue tooth transmitter I had installed. Once I uninstalled that, I went into Freestyler, selected the Velleman, and it didn't crash!

That problem was driving me crazy!

I can also confirm that Blue Soleil (French: Blue Sun?) bluetooth driver software is known to cause lots of interface conflicts - won't let it anywhere near my computers :x
