Remco,
There should be a wiki page on how to use the s2l interface.
As its creator, you are the best qualified person to do this. Any possibility that you could do this ?? pretty please ?? pretty please with sugar on it ??

Hi guys here's my problem
I just purchased a new laptop running windows 7. I was playing with the beta verision of Sound to Light added 2 American Dj Scan 250 to a new stage. I set them to audio lunched the sound to light system and could not seem to get it to find my audio device on the laptop.
It's a Toshiba satallite and I use winamp for MP3 playback. Any thoughts I'll update the software and see if i can find a more up to date sound to light add on
Thanks I dont have the verisions as i am at work currently but will post them late tonight!

I dont think that the s2l will 'listen' to music playing from the same pc that its running on.
If you have a built in mic then select that and play something on your hifi (if its near by) and it should work that way.
Or plug a mic in to the mic jack or a direct line-in if your laptop has one.

Are you saying it is not listed in the Sound 2 Light application?
What beta version are you using?

Sound 2 Light can work with audio that you play on the same computer. Just select the soundcard in S2L where the playback is running on, in Windows make sure you select "What you hear" or "Wave out" or whatever it is called in Windows 7 as record source. (<< So that is NOT an option in S2L, its an option somewhere in Windows!). I cant tell you where this is, as I have no Windows 7 around me.

Small test:
Try te get some audio record software, like
audacity.
Install it, start it and go to the menu Edit->Preferences.
Look in the recording panel; does the 'device' pulldown list your (or any) devices?

looking forward to a wiki. i am using a freestyler 3.2.8, with sl1.0.0.7, i added some par cans, set them to react to sound, open the sl plug in, set it to generate ramdam dmx values, play a soon, click the "start/stop" button on the SL window, also in the "Config" button set the audio source to my sound card. i see nothing from the 3D easy view, or the actual lights. in the Freestyler location window, i can see a BLUE TRIANGLE MARK next to the fixtures, so something must be wrong.

Looking at your screenshot makes a few things clear:
1. You are using PAR spots, now look really good to the litte screen where you selected "Random DMX values". See the list of channel type that are randomized. (Gobo, Color, Pan, Tilt). What should that do to PAR's? Nothing. You can't use pars on a random DMX value. So they do nothing, the way it is intended.
2. The triangle mark, shows that you have overridden its value by hand. So it wil stay at that value (like off), no matter what happens else, until you release the override. In your case would n't make a difference, because S2L->Random DMX->Par would never work. Use a light with pan/tilt/gobo or color control to do the test.
If you want PAR spots to react to sound, create a little sequence doing some things. Add that sequence to the cue, enable S2L there, start the sequence in the cue, start S2L and off you go.
