just as a quick update in an old thread, ive made my own timeline by mapping all my required midi input to notes, and running a virtual midi port from my sequencer of choice (ableton). I then just have an audio track and a midi track, and have pre made all my sequences and cues and just have the midi trigger them. works perfectly.

Me too!
I'm now running a Reaper timeline with tracks for click track, backing audio, MIDI triggers for the lights, and (on occasion) video. I use ipMIDI to send the MIDI into my lighting software, where I've assigned each of the sequences a different MIDI trigger.
Works like a charm!

I'm a solo musician and also dj/kj. I have never really ran my lights like you are describing, but it sounds like the shiznit. I am either on S2L or clicking buttons to stay with the music, most of the time both. One thing I have always wanted (and it may be part of what you are considering), is having certain fixtures respond to certain audio frequencies. Surely something like that could be added to S2L or a winamp plugin like yours, we already know the appx frequencies from the spectrum analyzer. It would be an automatic version of the timecode sync, but I look forward to trying your work if you do it.

A winamp timecode plugin would be a dream come true. I do a lot of solo magic shows and don't always have a light tech available. I would LOVE to be able to set my cues up and let winamp trigger them during the show.
The other program someone recommended to me was a $1200 program (probably designed for a large theater production) I would be happy with something that could control about 20 fixtures at the most.
I am particularly interested in winamp because I use a inexpensive radio remote that attaches to my belt to run all the sound for my show. So as long as the plugin recognizes what song is playing and creates the appropriate lighting for that song, I'll be in heaven!

I think this would be a cool feature...
so how many of us would be willing to PAY for this software if fully featured like suggested?
I would...

I am creating a light show for my band and something like this would help so much! I am trying to find a way to have the light show synced with a click and have the band play to it.... Is there any other way to set up lights with click? Gomonkey? Showtime?

Midi doesn't work in latest version either (I purchases a nanokey2), so double whammy.
