different shortcut 'universes'?
HI all,
I'm getting ready for a show this weekend and I've been busily making scenes. As of yet I don't have an external control (though maybe after this gig i can afford one!) and I've been stuck using other means, like keyboard shortcuts. I have a bunch of scenes that do just one thing that I like to trigger fast so I've mapped some shortcuts for these but there are too many! I tried to use cue buttons like a different 'universe' of sequences but it turns all the sequences on. I know I can use the mouse but thats too slow for what I'm trying to do. Any help would be wonderful.
Thanks

Re: different shortcut 'universes'?
How is that possible?
You can run at max 20 sequences the same time. You have at least the 0..9 and a..z and F1..F12 keys to assign... Thats way more than 20.
Or am I missing a point?
Have you thought about using submasters?

What do you mean about they only do one thing? If it is a one step sequence, you have a lot of override buttons (six pages of 30 buttons)fisch wrote:I have a bunch of scenes that do just one thing that I like to trigger fast so I've mapped some shortcuts for these but there are too many!
If you have two or more steps in your sequences, you have to use cue window
I don't think there is shortcuts for the fast cue switcher (not so fast for your purpose) which could have been the solution of your problem. buying a MIDI controller wouldn't help you because you still have 20 sequences in one cue, so you still have to change cue with the fast cue switcher.
maybe the submaster is your best choice, where you have several cues visible (five cues on each of the four pages).
btw. I'm not an expert in all light controllers but i dont know any who have a lot of playback channel, maybe 15-20 at the time.

I'm always amazed at how people manage to find the hard way to do stuff on FS.
have a look at the submaster tutorial I posted, I think it will help u.

Re: different shortcut 'universes'?
I have looked at the submasters and actually used them at my last event. I also tried the override buttons and, though they are close to what I want its not quite right.
What I have now are sequences that cause different fixtures to flash once or some similar two step motion. What I had planned to do was to manually trigger these flashes in relatively quick succession (hence the use of shortcuts). I have considered using lots of buttons on the keyboard if I have to but it would be easier if I could have multiple actions assigned to the same keys and switch between sets of actions.
If there is a way to do this quickly and without the mouse of submasters that would be nice. Or any other way for that matter.

You can include as many fixtures as you like into 1 scene or sequence. It sounds like you want a multistep sequence that you can trigger manually. It can easily be done

Re: different shortcut 'universes'?
You would have to teach ME how to make a Wiki first
It is really quite simple.
When making a scene you can include or not include any fixtures you choose: If you want a sequence to have red par cans AND strobe lights going slowly in 1 step you can! You could actually have all of your lights doing something in each step.
You can then assign the manual trigger button to a key and everytime you hit the trigger it will change steps.

Have a look and you will see that there is not much to it to make a simple page and if you get stuck then we will help you.Partyman wrote:It is really quite simple.
