Hi there.
I'm thinking of purchasing a Velleman VM116 DMX controller and use it with freestyler.
I want to use this for controlling 3-4 spots through midi, for use on the stage when playing with my band.
We have a laptop with backtracks, metronome/click. I want to pre-program the computer so that the spots/strobes (aswell as smoke-machines, pyrotech-triggers etc) are controlled through midi.
I'm using Midi-yoke so i have managed to get the midi-notes in to Freestyler. But i have no idea how to set it up to controll the spots!? There're alot of options to choiose from in the midi-settings
Is this possible??
I would appriciate all help i can get in this matter.
Regards/hobbe

Re: MIDI controlled Spots?
I don't think freestyler will do what you want.
Midi is used to trigger actions in freestyler.
If you could program your midi sequencer to output a perticular note during the song, at your chosen point, it may be able to trigger a certain action in freetyler.
Sorry if ive not been much help.

Re: MIDI controlled Spots?
Thanx guys...
I have made some progress in this area... But it is much more work than i ever could imagine.
I only want to controll a fex stropes and some spots.. so no advanced stuff..
I don´t have the DMX controller nor the spot/strobes yet, so i can't test my fix in realtime. This is where i hope some of you maybe can try out my fix and tell me if it works???
the input.. I use guitarpro for sending in Midi signal (i'm supposed to use Cubase oc FL later onm with a Velleman VM116 controller).. send the midi output through Midi yoke and in to freestyler. So far so good...
I created a new fixture where i use things that CAN be controlled via midi, such as shutter, focus, zoom, Frost, dimmer, flash etc instead of the orginal strobe/spot setup.
This seems to work aswell.. in Freestyler that is.
My question now is: can i somehow map for example the dimmer-channel to the "On/off channel" for a spot?
Eg use the dimmer for switching on or of the strobe/spot
if so, then my problem is solved!

try this:
freestyler setup --> preferences --> Patch
freestyler setup --> preferences --> Patch

Re: MIDI controlled Spots?
let me know how it goes... I dont have my ENTTEC at the moment so cant test it either.
it is a primitive solution of the problem but think it will work. just remember to reset the patch when you plan to use FS to other things ,
