Greetings all.
First, thanks for your patience.....I have Freestyler installed. I have created my own fixtures and they are working. I know what I would like to achieve, but not sure how to get there....so a description of what I am hoping to accomplish. I understand DMX, addressing, and have worked some with lighting, but am a sound tech and musician by trade. Fairly adapt at tech stuff. I just need pointers to get over the hump, I believe.
Here is what I am hoping to create. I play in a band. I would like my lighting to be unique to each song, tempo driven by midi inputs from the band. So, an overall settings for each song that I switch by using a FCB1010 midi footswitch, or even better would be a tablet....but not there yet.
Inside of each song, general lighting is preset, with specific triggers set to midi events coming from various instruments. I am using a Line 6 Helix which is capable of sending midi. I also have and will be using a Motu midi express XT midi patchbay. I am using a Enttek DMXUSB Pro to send DMX to the lights, along with a wireless DMX transmitter with 7 receivers.
Reading the wiki, it appears that a sequence is a series of light events - a cue list is a series of sequences -What is a location? I am assuming a group, is a grouping of lights....It is the overview that I am having trouble understanding in Freestyler.
Is it possible to control sequence times via midi? Is it possible to control a cue list via midi?
Any pointers to videos, lessons, or any advice at all most appreciated. The stuff I am finding on youtube is not covering my needs at this point.
Thanks.
Totally new user - basic principles and pointers.....

Did you ever get an answer to your question. I have the same issue and have been messing with the tap button, controlled by midi and it kind of works, I guess, not really. I am probably doing something wrong.
