Hello, I want to install some RGB LED strips on an entertainment center in a rec room. I will have 8 sections (2+2 shelves on each side of a TV) that will be lit with 4 separate RGB digital LED strips that are about 52" long. I'd like to be able to control each of the 8 sections separtly or all together depending on what ever. A chasing feature of the lights would be nice as well and response to music. My question is, what will I need to accomplish this feat? I've found the enttec usb to dmx interface. I would like to set programs via the computer. Also iphone control is optimal. Will I need a DMX controller/decoder? I am new to this!
Thanks for any insight!!

Another option I was looking at is using an SD card for programming. I would not want to have my computer on in order for the lights to function.

Re: LED Strip lighting
I would get 4 DMX to LED Adapters from Ebay. and get a USB to DMX Adapter.
Address each one 3 Up from last start channel.
Strip 1 - DMX 1
Strip 2 - DMX 4
Strip 3 - DMX 7
Strip 4 - DMX 10
Then connect the 4 DMX Adapters to a USB to DMX adapter, Create the fixture in Freestyler and have fun!

Re: LED Strip lighting
Sorry for highjacking the thread is there a tutorial specific to setting up generic led strip device profiles?

Re: LED Strip lighting
Just create a simple 3 channel fixture and enable rgb for it. Assign red blue and green to there respective channels.
Then add that fixture 4 times with starting channels one up from ending channel as stated above.

Do you mean something like this adapter/decoder here --> http://www.ebay.com/itm/320833937685matt wrote: ↑August 11th, 2012, 4:07 pm I would get 4 DMX to LED Adapters from Ebay. and get a USB to DMX Adapter.

Is it possible to map actual pixels (meaning an actual LED in a say 60 LED strip)? If not what do I need to address specific pixels in an LED strip and drive this via FreeStyler?

Re: LED Strip lighting
which IC type of the digital led strip you have use?
the SK6812 ,or sk6822, the ws2813 led even the ws2812b led strip ?
a lot type of addressable led and IC in the market now,
different will use different controlling protocol.
hope you can find more about it.
