Very basic question concerning sequences
Hello, this is my first post here.
I hope you will excuse the utter ignorance of my question, but I am pretty stumped...
I am using Freestyler to control my Ambilight-like lighting in my living room. Basically it consists of 14 RGB (3-channel) LED strips. Direct control works pretty well, no problems here.
Now I wanted to create a simple sequence that would cycle the lights from red to green and back, in about 100 steps (1 step per second). For now I do not want to shift (phase) the lights, so all LEDs should be the same color.
Is there a way to do it automatically? I have tried FX, but:
- it does not allow to use one fixture and with more fixtures the colors are different
- now matter which combination of effect and channel I use, I cannot get the colors right
- only 12 steps are generated
Could someone describe the way to do it in detailed steps?

Re: Very basic question concerning sequences
Create a sequence and set the color channels to 'Fade' between the endpoints you want. Set the step time to a long value, and you can tweak it longer when playing it back.

Re: Very basic question concerning sequences
I must be doing something wrong, because even though I have "Fade" set both in the Colors window and in the sequence, the colors switch abruptly...

I can`t remember, what I have change in the project... but all fades now is ON,(in cue, in sequence, in the sequence`s options), but it don`t works.

Re: Very basic question concerning sequences
oke i have tried it but it just fades with me.
is see 3steps.
step1, Channel2 = 255 and Fade = 4000 and Scene = 2000
step2, Channel1,2 = 255 and Fade = 4000 and Scene = 2500
step3, Channel1 = 255 and Fade = 4000 and Scene = 2500
i know you added more channels to the sequence but i just use my own patch there for i will just Talk about Channel1 and 2.
and i dont know how you would expact it to look like?

Re: Very basic question concerning sequences
What I expect is that the change is gradual, i.e. it is Ch1 = 0, Ch2 = 255, at 1 s it is Ch1 = 64, Ch2 = 255, at 2 s it is Ch1 - 128 and Ch2 = 255.
In other words I expect the first fixture go from red all the way through orange before it turns yellow. Now it just switches from red to yellow...

Re: Very basic question concerning sequences
ahh yes.
the biggest problem on you program is that the Scene time is Shorter then the Fade time.
This way it will fade between 140 and 220. something like that
so try this.
Step1: REd Channel = 255 , Green channel = 0. so it begins RED.
Step2: REd Channel = 255 ,Green channel = 127. now it is Orange.
step3: REd Channel = 255, Green channel = 255. now it is Yellow.
all with Fade and Scene time on 1S.
all channels recorded with FADE.
You can also create a Sequence with just 2 steps.
Step1: REd Channel = 255 , Green channel = 0. so it begins RED.
Step2: REd Channel = 255 , Green channel = 255. now it is yellow.
and Fade and Scene time on 2S.
now on 0S=red, 1S=Orange, 2S = Yellow.

Re: Very basic question concerning sequences
And that's exactly what is not working. Just to be sure I have made a new location with a different fixture and with the sequence settings you describe - it still only snaps, no fading at all...Spirit wrote:ahh yes.

Re: Very basic question concerning sequences
Oh...
Unfortunately, I cannot program the sequence at the location where the actual hardware is (LEDs on my HTPC monitor), so I am using my regular computer...
Yes, I was looking at the fixture color bars only. When I read your comment, I have displayed the DMX output and it does indeed show correct output.
Thank you very much, this will stop me from running in circles! Of course, real time color preview would be nice, but I can live without it...

Re: Very basic question concerning sequences

But fs is made for slow running pc.
And real time colors would stress the pc to much.
