Hi
I have assembled the kit and looks fine. And works in stand alone mode. But when i plug it into my computer the DMX led stays on. But theres no DMX output into my scanners. As i have already said it works in stand alone test mode, so i think its a software problem. Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Im using windows XP so it should work.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, i had a similar problem when i started out with DMX.
If the DMX LED is constant then it is likely the software is sending a signal.
Homever some devices require the DMX Signal polarity to be reversed.
If you have a spare XLR around try swapping the wires to pins 2 & 3 over and see if that helps.
See pins 2 & 3 are the signal wires, however one is a positive signal and the other is a negative signal so sometimes reversing the two can solve the problem.
However if you do swap them over permanently, dont forget to mark up the cable otherwise if it gets put with other cables you will forget which one it is.
Hope this helps!!!

Hi
Thanks for the reply,
But if the wires were reversed surely there would be somthing coming through? just not exactly what i want?
And also becuase im new to DMX i dont have any spare XLR but i can take my main XLR to peices to test it.
