My lightdesk, 3xbcf2000, 2x Elo15" touchscreens

Hello, everybody

just like you show my lightingdesk so far it's still a work in progress.

At the moment having some troubles with the Second screen i use a Usb->DVI converter but it shows some trouble. so need to figure that out.

The bcf's works realy great, i have them all on a USB hub and it works, and i use Midi ox to merge the channels to one channel so freestyler can work with 3x bcf.

still need look if both the touchscreen will run with Windows XP.
but i allready found a tutoruil about thats, so that should be easy.

and if all the software and hardware like to work with eachother, i will let somebody else make a custom Fightcase so everything will fit.

Oke so far everthing seems to work great.

i Just used a Old Pc of mine (AMD 2x3GHZ 3GB Ram + Videocart for the 2 screens).
Still i like to have a Nice working USB->dvi converter so i can add a Thirdscreen for 3d View iff needed.

But the 3x bcf and 2x touchscreen seems to work nice.
Now i need to think about the Flight case.

How is the bcf configured.
Guess that they are set to controle all sub masters but as I recall they can be set to 4 different pages.

Yes on midi page one i have all the Submaster, from Fader 5 to 24.
Fader one = Masterspeed and fader two = Master intensitie, and the next two ,3and 4 are still empty.

on midi page two i have evreything that have something to do with, Fixture controll and Programming.

i will also add a the Sys file i use at the momment. allmost all the buttons are used, only the Encoder groups and the Encoder buttons are not used becuase i do not have enough midi Note's, so it still the Test version i use. becuase i allready have a other idea.

and on the touchscreen i like to use the Overridebuttons.

Is it possible to see all submasters on the screen at the same time.
Was thinking of using one encoder to each sub master selection window.
It would then be nice to be able to see all the sub masters on the screen and not just the 5 for one tab.

Yes of course, midi and Dmx looks a little bit the same.
With dmx you have 1universe got, 512channels and 1 channel, have 255 Value's

With midi you have 1-16 Channels. everychannel got 127+0 Note's and every note have 127+0 Velocity's

Dmx --------Midi
Universe -- Channel
Channel --- Note
Value -------Velocity

But freestyler only acepts 1 Midi channel so 127+0 Note.
If you use everything on one Bcf, you need 74 Note's.
but i have 3x Bcf so i need 74x3 = 222 Note's this is not posible becuase you can only use 127+0 Note's with freestyler.
So i do not use the Encoder buttons and Encoder pages, so one bcf uses42 notes and 42x3=126.
so this time everything fits still have 2 Note's left

No you can not have all the submaster on the screen you can onlt see 5submaster at the time.

I was not aware of the limitation.
Think I will add that to "external control" on the wiki.
I don't know how complex this is but I think more midi channals may be something to a feature request.
You are allmost able to use 60% of the noder with one bcf and you have 3 in your setup.
If I recall correct then it is possible to have 3 enttec wings so why not 3 midi interfaces.
This may also make it possible to run without midi-ox.



What do you have in mind for showing all submaster tabs at the same time.

In midi standard there are 16 channels and each channel has 127 + 0 note’s.
Each note’s has 127 + 0 velocities.

Corect

Freestyler only have 1 channel and thereby only 127 + 0 note’s.
Each note correspond to one of the Midi “External commands”.
The value that are send with the external command is in Midi the velocity parameter.

No freestyler doesn't have one channels, you can use all the channels only freestyler doesn't make a Differnce between Channel1 and2 and3 and4.

To set this in perspective a fully configured BCF2000 uses 74 notes.

And freestyler has more than 500 external midi commands that are available.
This means that only a small part of the external commands can be reached via the midi interface.

You can still use the Midi pages, and you have 5midi pages + Shift, so if you have 127+0note's x 6 = 768

so you can assign 768 differnt external control.

What do you have in mind for showing all submaster tabs at the same time.

my daily job is to work with Metal, so i'm going to create mine own Wheel.
Just the same how Avolight does it.

i will make 2 wheels each 10submaster width, still have 2 note's left.. .

and i think i can Connect the wheels to the bcf, stil need to google what kind of input is needed.

I missed something here.

The wheel will only make it possible to give the faders a new lable and if you get the electrical part up running then it will shift submaster tab when you turn the wheel.

Or do you wan't to use them on the encoder and the use one set of encoder (5 pices) to control one tab.
And when you turn the whell a new tab is shown for the same 5 encoders.

No you need to look at it this way.

Like the example i gave you, i can scroll thru the Sequences.
the idea with the Wheel is i Don't need the Tabs anymore because i can Write everything on the wheel.
So i have 2 wheel 10 submaster width.

So if i rotate the wheel i can Scroll thru the Sequences.
and i don't need to look at freestyler anymore but at the wheel.

Well you still only have one tab displayed.

And thereby can only see what is you can select for 5 of the submasters.

Just an note you have a footswitch input on the BCF don't know if this can be a way to give an input to the wheels.

and i need a Midi merger.
but i allready have a Nice working USB -> DVI converter. so i can add my 22"iiyama touchscreen as third touchscreen

But i'm very busy at the moment so i dont have the time at the moment.
but i'm going to finsh the project and upload new Fotos, and maby a Video.
