I NEED TO BE ABLE TO TYPE " 1thru70@full" etc...

Post by Pimpadeus »

Greetings all!

This is my first post as I am new to the FreeStyler community.
I apologize for starting with a question but I have a slight emergency.

I am currently using FreeStyler in a theatrical environment.
The ONLY problem I'm having so far is that the LD is calling cues and scene changes faster
than I can enter data with a mouse on the software commandline " keypad " (GO).

I need traditional Expression 3 - style alphanumeric keypad control of Freestyler so I can type
"CH1 thru CH70 @ FULL" , "CH's 14 and 24 and 64 @ 55% " using far less keystrokes
and making the show run smoother and edits quicker.

MY main issue is that I need the following buttons to be available from an external USB keypad:

[Thru]
[At]
[Except]
[Full]

If this is not possible does anyone know of a hardware device or keypad that has all these buttons or can be programmed to have them?

Lastly, has anyone had success with using a touchscreen monitor to control Freestyler with touchscreen mode enebled?

Sorry so wordy....

Hello,

i would have expact that freestyler had any keyboard shortcuts for that but it doesn't have it.
so you can only control the Command Go Shortcuts with midi, Enttec wing, Ip, Sendmessage, or Touchscreen UI2 / TUI1.

(If you still like to controll it with a Keyboard i have a little trick for that making the keyboard a Midi device)

but yes you can also use Touchscreen mode for this and i use it my self (TUI2).

so how would you like to have it.

http://www.ymouse.com/xkeys.php

X keys can be programed to play back key sequences.

FS does accept these keys
[Thru] /
[At] @
[Except] -
[Full] FULL

Thank you Spirit and Mattotone for your quick replies.

The X-keys controller looks very promising.
I will probably get one after this show.

I will also be adding a touchscreen as a second monitor ASAP .

In the meantime, what is your trick, Spirit, for making the keypad
MIDI-fiable?

Yes you can use two programs Bome's miditranslator Pro (this one cost money) and
Bome's Mouse keyboard this one is free.

i recommend to use Bome's Mouse keyboard because it is free and it's easy to use.
this is what you need to do.

1)Download "Bome's Mouse keyboard"
2)Download "Midi Yoke"
3)Reboot pc
4)open "Bome's mouse keyboard"
5) Set Midi out to "Midi yoke: 1"
6)press on "options"->"Settings" then press on the tab "Playing"
7) search for Velocity / Dynamic play then you see "Standard Velocity (0..127)" by default it is 100 but it needs to be 127
8)open freestyler
9)press on "Setup" -> "freestyler setup" -> "External control" -> "Midi control"
10)and set Midi in to "midi yoke: 1"
now you can send midi message from bome's to freestyler.

Note: bome's Mouse keyboard needs to be on TOP so it excepts the keyboard
Note: i also noticed you can not use the Numpad if you use Bome's mouse keyboard, with Bome's miditranslator you can do everything.
