Re: Have you paid ?
So only 2 people have ever paid a donation for Fs?
This is not ment to shame anyone and no records are kept about this.
I was just interested to see what people though or did.

Re: Have you paid ?
Unfortunately there isn't an option for my circumstance. And that is, I don't use the software enough to warrant paying for it becuase it isn't usually the kind of thing I'm after.
As some of you are aware I'm very much a theatre based person and this is the section that FS falls behind on. I was in talks with Raph at some point about there being a proper theatre mode cue stack implemented, but it appears it may be a lot of work.
I am however one of the beta testers for the software and contribute in this way, although due to recent events in my life I've had to take some time out for about 6 months, but aim to get back to it shortly.
If I started using FS on a more regular basis, or if a stack was implemented then I would definitely contribute.
Hope that makes some sense.

Re: Have you paid ?
Tom,
What exactly do you mean or need in the way of a theatre mode cue stack ?
I belive that FS is more than capable of running a theatre show apart from perhaps having more cues / cue buttons / submasters.
Just wondering what is missing for you ?
@ the guy who ticked 'No because im a tight fisted tosser' - Grow up and pay up!

Re: Have you paid ?
What US Dollar/Euro donation amount is considered "fair" for FreeStyler? There's many other software packages out there and they cover a wide range of prices. For example, for about $300USD one can get American DJ's "myDMX" package (with controller), or spend over $1300USD for packages from Elation or Martin. Also, there's many types of users too. I would think the mobile DJ with only a handful of lights is not expected to donate as much as a club in a major metropolitan city that has several dozen fixtures. Similarly, a non-profit community theatre probably isn't expected to donate as much as a major theatre with a multi-million dollar yearly budget, correct?? My business is still in a "startup" phase, so I need to budget my expenses and pay off debt. But I want to donate a fair amount too, and don't want to insult Raph with a measly contribution! Some guidance here would help. Thanks!

Re: Have you paid ?
Raph does this for the love not the money. If it was for the money then we would all be paying to use FS.
Its a donation so what ever YOU want to give you can. I dont think Raph will be offended.

In theatre you pre program all your scenes into the desk and then use one button to simply move from one lighting scene to the next. However, shows can have a few hundred lighting scenes per show. I really cant think of a way to replicate this in freestyler appart from creating a sequence of less than 99 steps (ie altering the ini. file) and using the sequence creater window to scroll forward through the scenes. FS is much more creative at it lets you create new looks on the fly and better for bands and Djs in my opinion.

So what you want is a 'Go' button. My Frog has one and I fully understand your need for one for theatre use.
I think the nearest to cue stacking you will get in fs is making good use of the Cue List Buttons. Its not the same as you want but one of the students I taught
for a while (now works for me) has used FS very sucessfully in some college productions employing this feature.

Re: Have you paid ?
I just sent a New Year's present.
Too bad the US dollar is so weak right now!
I think my donation was decent in $ but probably not so good when converted to €...

Ha ha! Not that bad, but close! Maybe I'll keep a close eye on the exchange rate and make another donation if the dollar gets stronger?remco_k wrote:Yeah, if you donate like $200,- there is about €0,20 left...*joking*

Re: Have you paid ?
Hi folks,
i have used freestyler nov for nearly a year.
Mostly for the ambiant-light control in my living room. (serveral LED-PARs hided in the corners).
But i have also made 2 live shows for a privat party. for that i have already donate a little (15 EUR).
And of course i have made Raph now a new-year donation.
But my plan is, if i make some payed lightshows with FS, Raph will get a donation again (for each show).
Because i think i will not earn much money with the lightnig (maybe 2-3 gigs a year, each for ca 100EUR),
my donation will be quit small (10 EUR per show).
But i hope Raph will continue FS ... the software is great. (much to big for my needs:-)

I dont think there is any need to donate everytime you use fs on a live show. Some people have never donated a penny. Thats up to them.
There are no guide lines as to how much to give if anything. From what you have put here I think you should have a clear concience. If every fs user gave what you have then im sure the developer would be a very very happy guy and slightly richer for it.

Re: Have you paid ?
Hi guys,
I'm new to Freestyler and lighting and DMX stuff. I've been using it for about two months now and I think it's great! Haven't done any live shows with it yet, but i'm using it to control a laser for my bro's surf-band. First gig will be in september. Fairy simple to start with, and i'm sorting out all the patterns at the moment.
So have I paid? Yes, I just made a donation to Raph, because I know how it is to spend much time on these kind of things, and it's nice to get a present now and then
.
Regards,
Ray

Re: Have you paid ?
I have just donated a small amount again.
Thanks, Raph, for taking care of those three issues I reported! I hope my donation helps.
