ETC Expression 3 Midi Out to FreeStyler Midi IN

Post by matt »

Has anyone done this before...

Long Story Short..
We have a ETC Expression 3 Light Console (http://www.etcconnect.com/product.overv ... s&region=1)

We want to have all the cues for our conventional fixtures programmed and controlled from the board and have all the automated illuminares programmed and controlled from Freestyler.. We would like to use MiDI to have the Light Board Cue freestyler.

Basically have a 1 to 1 cue sheet on both systems.

Thoughts?

Why are you doing this?
So you have a 3 universe desk that can do far more than fs but you want to use fs as well as the desk?
I think you are making this really hard for yourself. If I were you I would get your head into the desk and not use fs. Trying to use midi from the desk to run cues in fs is probably possible but I'm not sure it will work how you want without a huge amount of extra programming and a massive headache.
Anyway good luck, let me know how it works out.

The reason why we were going to use FreeStyler for the automated lights is

1 - simpler to program
2 - 2 people programming at once
3 - gui to control lights.

we have found another option,, we are going to use fs to set the light how we want them and then copy the DMX values into the Expression 3.
