Question about which fan?
I am going to give a outdoor party,
For this i need powerful fans, but i can't find the right information.
What is your experience?
Do i need radial or axial fans?
Good smoke machines i have, but i don't know which type of fans are best to use.
I am going to use some powerful smoke machines, but which fans are best for outdoor use?
Axial or radial.
Best reg,
Bob

Re: Question about which fan?
Its more about the difference of airflow.
I want to distribute smoke over an large area.
The link you showed only shows axial fans. Are those better than these models?

I think you are worrying about this too much.
Using any fogger / hazer in an outdoor setup is always going to be problematic.
By the very nature of wind or even a light breeze or even nothing at all the fog will disapear very quickly.
Using a fan to push the fog around will probably not be a good idea. I have used fans on indoor gigs with various results.
The more you try to push the fog around the more fog you will need. It will not easily keep its density.
I do understand what you are trying to do but I have to warn you that it will not work out how you think.
Unless you have the budget for a pair of huge super foggers and can constantly move 4000 cubic meters of fog per minute its not gonna happen!
The best you can really hope for is to use what you have and let nature do its bit.
Good luck!

I saw Aussie Floyd at Rochester castle a few years back, now they had some huge foggers and fans, you could see the fog pumping out of the machines and the fans blowing it, then nothing, nada. So what was the point ?
Later in the evening, they must have turned the fans down as you could just start to see the lasers in the air/haze/fog, before that you could only see the lasers where they hit.

Mmm must have missed that oneOnge wrote:I saw Aussie Floyd at Rochester castle a few years back

I have seen a few other BIG Floyd tribute acts, one of particular note called 'Beyond The Darkside' (auzzie act I met and watched in Germany).
and Think Floyd who I did lighting for years ago at the Casino Rooms (this was way before they got it properly sorted out with tour production etc)
Andre - Next gig you and the guys are doing I must come and see!! (unpaid roadie maybe?)

Re: Question about which fan?
I saw a webpage about a realy big fogger some days ago. The page is in German, but I think the video on it you will be able to see. So here is the link http://www.nebel-werfer.de/videos.html You may also want to look at some pictures, wich can be found under "Bilder" in the navigation.
Some data about the machine:
- build from an electrician student
- heating with 10000 watt
- 2 tanks for fluid, each one holds 10 l
- needs (runing full power) 1l fluid per minute
- 1 fan inside
- controlled with DMX (2 channel, 1 fog, other one fan)
- pushes out 10000 cubic meters of fog per minute (estimated value)
But I do not think you want to build such a machine for your outdor event
